I guess anything is possible, but I doubt this guy entered the US under a work visa. Those are quite difficult to get and normally require qualifications such as a university education. I would have thought it more likely he entered the country under a tourist or student visa.

I don't know if that his goal or not. But if he's struggling he would likely be better off to go back voluntarily rather than face deportation - which would have a very negative effect on him ever getting another visa.
