I started seeing reports on this new strain of gonorrhea in mid-2011. I agree it is quite concerning.....although, to my knowledge, there are no cases of it yet in the USA. Having said that, its probably only a question of time.

Many thanks Rod...but what to do? All of this just seems to put a damper on things. I for one really go with guys like yourself that are truly aware of the ramifications of various sex acts, and take as many precautions as humanly possible.

Best to you....

Right. The Kyoto strain hasn't washed on our shores, yet. Probably. BUT there is the other Treatable, but resistant strain that's growing and that in and of itself is scary. Wish I could have played around in the 70s, no HIV and the Clap was SO easy to fix. Now, All my doctor clients and doctor friends have been asking me for the last year, "So what do you plan to do to protect yourself from this resistant-Ghon specifically?" Prevention-wise All one can do is use condoms for oral sex, and no, I haven't started doing that. And of course get tested often. One additional thing I have done the last 10 years is not hook up for recreational sex anymore. I get enough fun out of my clients and boyfriend. All that does is reduce the numbers and therefore the exposure, but it's something.

I used to hate getting older, but once and awhile I can smile, because yes I played very very hard in the 70's and it was reassuring to know that what you did get was SO easy to fix. Were they the "good-ol-days?" I am not so sure. I rather think that I am living what will soon be the "good-ol-days," but I do know that I am grateful that there was a time in my life, however brief, that sex was just sex without the drama. God bless the kids today that are growing up not knowing what that was like...peace to all!!
