"Ryan Idol" the Idol of Millions in the 90's was convicted in Sacramento Ca of attempted murder. His defense that he was being attacked by his ex-girlfriend in their bathroom with a knife and he struck her on the head with the Toilet Cover in self defense... fell on deaf ears. Of course the fact she was taking a bath at the time might have had something to do with the jurys decision. ;)

 

I will stay away from the usual Jail House jokes that are going around about the very Purdy 90's Hunk who was allegedly always "Gay for Pay" which I doubt.

He was always one of my favs. In his heyday he was gorgeous to say the least. I used to see him all the time at "The Numbers" in WEHO. To his credit he was always charming and very sociable with the other patrons. I was told that he could be bought, for an exorbitant amount no doubt. I always passed, as he was too rich for my blood, but I will not forget how nice he was. Sad to see someone let their life unravel like this.

He was also convicted of battery, assault with a deadly weapon and "corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant".[11] Sentencing was scheduled for December 9, 2011.[12] however when he appeared, his attorney requested to be withdrawn from the case. The request was granted. Idol then appeared in court on January 13, 2012 requesting a retrial "citing ineffective assistance of counsel". He appeared in court on 13 July 2012 with a motion for a new trial, and is to reappear in the Sacramento County Courthouse on September 21, 2012."

Wow...thank you Gallahad for the pics. It certainly brought back some fond memories. God he was gorgeous! Anyone have an idea about how much time he will get in prison? I guess it doesn't really matter, but I was just curious.

I know this is stupid and petty, but did he rip the toilet seat cover from the bolts that hold it or was it not bolted? Just wondering as it would be the last thing I would grab for as a defense move but then maybe he knew it was not bolted or knew his brute strength would unbolt it. Just a thought and, as I stated, I know it is stupid and petty.

He and the girlfriend should BOTH be jailed for such living conditions!! In jail I doubt they have toilet seat covers so the other inmates will be safe from him.

It wasn't the toilet seat, it was the cover for the tank, which is not bolted down. Read carefully: smashing his girlfriend over the head with a toilet tank lid.

How else could you jiggle the thing to stop the water from gurgling?

It was the toilet tank lid, not the seat - a pretty hefty weapon, probably.

LO LOL...Aaahh I stand corrected, and that does make more sense. My toilet seat is padded, very nicely actually, and it is hard to imagine it being a weapon of any kind. Poor Mr.Ryan, we should not make light of a very serious situation.

I offer my apologies for my error. Would never think to use the toilet tank lid as a weapon. You have to move the Kleenex holder, scented candle and other miscellaneous decorative items before using it. Takes time.

You can now buy quick-release seats which remove for easy cleaning.

Or simply let them smash to the floor when you grab the tank lid and try to hit your girlfriend over the head. My guess is he wasn't too concerned about the tissue holder, et al.

Fry me! In posting Scotty's "work" contact number, I was making reply to the poster's notice that I had failed to publish the information to the board.

 

And I for one sincerely thank you for the information. I hope that my request does not land you in some sort of trouble. I will be unable to see him in Nola before 9/16, however it would appear that he is right here in LA. I might be forced to break my own self imposed restriction on hiring.
