Sure the boys are cute, but...

A marketing campaign doesn't get much gayer than that.

Personally, I find sucking liquid from someone's navel and then spitting it back into the navel owner's mouth really gross in an underwear campaign. As a business decision, I think it's stupid. I have no desire to go anywhere near this brand, and if I see a guy at my gym wearing AC, you can imagine my immediate perception. (god forbid the wearer is fat and homely.)

One wonders if there's a straight guy around the world who would dare purchase Andrew Christian underwear. Can you be successful selling strictly to a gay male "pig" market?

The fabric looks like cheap, synthetic jersey, with a little latex thrown in. No thanks. I need a rash on my balls like I need difficulty getting an erection.

SAVOR THE MOMENT and appreciate that this new era of social media marketing is all about niche opportunities and AC is using the power of SMM to build interest in their brand in a very clever and focused manner. As they use to say ... when I was a kid ... and we thought the world had changed for ever because of the advent of color tv ... TAKE A SANKA !!!

I have the hots for Quinn Christopher Jaxon. He's cute; he's nicely built (dancer); he moves unbelievable; and he's HUNG!

I used to too, until I saw him in his Randy Blue video. He's a hot, sweet-looking man, but a bit too fem in his demeanor for me sexually. But MAN, that DICK.

Clever, for me, means smart. I don't see the intelligence in this campaign.

Focused? Yes, on gay sex, perhaps. But so is porn.

Nobody has to tell me that sex sells, but crossing the line into porn means you've taken a tasteless route to market your product.

I'm not as conservative as most in advertising, but the minute you venture near sexual raunch, no matter how playful or cute, the best you can do is appeal to the Snookie crowd. If that's AC's goal, then the brand should feel satisfied.

Totally Agree! ;)

For me, this ad and the models were a big turn-off. Then again I'm into masculine manly men.....and none of these guys fit the bill. The brand is clearly targeting the core 20-something gay WEHO-type party crowd. If they can become a preferred brand for that group, they may have a small success as a niche product within a limited market. No straight guy or gay guy that likes masculine men would be drawn to the brand after seeing this ad. Quite the opposite.

Personally I prefer Calvin Klein type ads that feature more masculine and built types of guys.....but that's just me.

I'll weigh in on this: I purchased my first pair of AC underwear this summer and it has been some time since I saw my twenties (no fool like an old fool, I guess). I proudly wore them out that same evening, dragged a guy back to his room for a bit of whatnot (actually he dragged me) and he noticed my underwear and commented approvingly. I was so pleased that the very next day I trotted over to the underwear emporium and bought a second pair. I was clearly on a roll in the trick department and figured I'd better be prepared with fresh and clean undies (hope springs eternal). I do like the way they feel on my skin and I like the way they look on me. But this ad does get me to re-think a bit. I'm not the least bit like any of those guys in the video (maybe a little self-delusional?) and I'm not the least bit into guys like that either. The actions, expressions, etc. were just too silly and nelly for me and frankly, just plain too immature. Maybe the marketing gurus at AC should broaden their concept of their market base. I'm into adults, not adolescents. And the music - oy vey. But I've always been put off by the music in the AC videos, so that's nothing new.

Me thinks all you "old" guys need to have a nice glass of wine and chill out in WEHO for an afternoon. I love the fact that AC is doing well in LA...he is clearly not for everyone, but for this old WEHO queen, I am so over the Calvin Klein and A&F boring ads.

It is a little different for me admittedly as I know most of these guys, and it is my neighborhood, so I am being a little over protected here. It brings money into the area, and for that I am going to be very supportive. WEHO is not pretending to be Paris, NY or London. We are not that sophisticated, nor do we want to be that pretentious, well not all of us anyway. For now we are just having fun, "Out here in the warm California sun"....and over thinking or over analyzing an underwear ad is a bit silly in my view.

I enjoyed the video and turned off the sound. I agree with BVB... to each his own, and while I am not into guys of this age or look, I do enjoy watching and interacting with them. I am old enough to be a father to most of them, but interestingly enough I find that many of them enjoy the company of older guys, and not just me. When in WEHO, enjoy the eye candy and relish the fact that these kids may never have to go through the difficulties or trauma that many of us went through growing up, although some of us never have grown up, IMHO! I don't buy AC, and I wouldn't look good in them... but I do look great in Jockey "Pouch Briefs"...they provide the space and support that I need, and most jockey or CK underwear is too tight and binding for me. So, guys, to each his own... let's celebrate all ages, styles and preferences... that is what most of us have worked hard for all of these years.

Just for the record, none of the guys in the ad nor the underwear itself are for me. Having said that, I have no issue that others are attracted to the models or the product. To each his own.

Now......I was serious when I asked earlier if AC was an established brand. I really have never heard of it before. Has it been around for many years or is it a recent success?

BTW, I just bought 4 pair of Old Navy boxer briefs today. Not flashy at all....but I find them very comfortable. Also, I like the image the brand represents.....simple, easy, and not at all pretentious.

LOL EZE....I meant to answer that question earlier, but the shuttle had just gone over, and for a few glorious seconds, the city just seemed to stop all the usual craziness, and time stood still as we watched in amazement. Everyone just sort of got caught up in the moment. It was truly an amazing site to behold.

So on to the infamous Mr. AC. He did get his start not many years ago, as I recall when he won "Project Runway" the rest is history and he started his clothing line. Now I could be incorrect, as I do not watch that sort of TV, so others might have more specific information, but I think that is how it all got started. The video, at least the beginning I believe was shot on Santa Monica Blvd in front of his store, at SM Blvd at Robertson, and most of the models can be seen dancing in WEHO at the many bars/clubs that line "Boys Town"....hope this helped, and hope you are doing well...Cheers, BVB

I remember years ago a shop in WEHO called All American Boy. Quite the rage to have something with their logo on it. I bought a belt and treaured it. Don't know if the chain or brand ever went national. Anyone remember it?

If memory serves me correctly Travis, that store is gone now. I tried searching for it, and nothing came up. Many of those stores along SM blvd don't last long as the rent is so high. You have to sell an enormous amount of merchandise to support a space in "Boys Town" I think that the AC store is where the "All American Boy" store was, but I could be wrong. To be honest with you, I am surprised the AC store is still there. He is a bit pricey and in this economy, I never see anyone in there. Hoped this helped...
