101 Rent Boys, the documentary

I just saw this video and it was interesting. The guys they interviewed were all over the map: from sensible and clear-headed, to kinda scary.

 

A few things I noticed:

 

-Very few of the guys said "Thank you" after receiving their $50 payment on camera. (It was noticeable enough I started counting. There were only 3.)

 

-They must have not gotten all the guys from off the street because I have a hard time imagining porn names like "Ted Matthews" and "Tommy Cruise" (who has a great butt, in case you're wondering) being out waiting for the next passing Honda.

 

-$50 seems like too little money to be paying someone who appears on camera for well-known producers like Fenton & Barbato.

 

I'm looking forward to hearing the commentary track.

 

Did anybody recognize anyone from having hired them?

The video is 12 years old, so my guess is that not many of those boys are working these days. $50 was probably a lot of money back then!

I've talked with several of the guys who were in this. They all told me that the payment part was always the last thing shot and was intentionally staged to be as demeaning as possible.

 

The producer's intent wasn't the most noble.
