I don't know. What if ErieBear was saying IGNORE but he really wanted us to pay attention?!?! What if he is being held by hostile gnome ninjas intent on doing him harm? Maybe he logged on here to be innocuous knowing that people would know him and know that something is wrong. I don't think we should be so quick to dismiss this post because maybe ErieBear is hoping for our assistance. DON'T WORRY ERIEBEAR...WE WILL SAVE YOU!

The President has dispached a team of Navy SEALS to his home to save and protect him. They will pose as escorts to gain entry into the home. Once inside they will attack the assailants and tie them up. They will also tie Eriebear up, if so desired, and receive his gratitude for hours and hours and hours.

That's absurd.

It's far more likely that you are trying to distract us by creating a post that is meant to make ErieBear's original post seem like cry for help, but that we will automatically reject as being genuine because it comes from you, which you knew would happen all along. Therefore, ErieBear's post is a cry for help.

um...

I'm sorry Max but your statement was too difficult for me to follow. Could you maybe draw a picture or a simple diagram?

Actually, I was gonna vent about something, then decided not to. Nothing major. I would have deleted the thread if I knew how to. :)

You click the "delete" button... Really, its not difficult !

IIRC, an ordinary user can't delete a thread once it's been posted. You can edit the content of the post, and other posters can delete replies.

Yes you can. A delete post button appears for a short time after posting, and allows you to delete your post by clicking. it. Ive done it many, many times. Are you saying I am NOT a regular user ???? I'm irregular ?

JJK - was that the first post that started a new thread? if so, then my memory is faulty. I know you can delete 'replies' to a thread.

As for regular or irregular - I need we need to invent a whole new term for you! ;)

Maybe deej or someone can chime in (about deleting an original thread post - not about JJK)?

RE: Regular or Irregular:

How about "Aperiodic" ( used for journals that are not periodicals )

YES, if you start a post or reply to one, it allows for "delete" of the entry for a period of time after the "save".

I have often found myself to be "irregular". In those instances, a few spoons of Pepto or Kaeopectate does the trick !

I get the Delete button on regular posts (replies). The only other thing I can think of is that BostonPhil got his reply in within 60 seconds of my post, before I could even click on the Edit button.
