VERY clever..... But I disagree about Hairspray. It was much more than a 2 hour commercial about a fat girl with Bad hair !

Well, we've got to disagree on the Tony Awards. I found them very enjoyable.

 

Guess we've got different tastes.

On this one, we probably do disagree. I did like Neil Patrick Harris, but he is not really a theater man, just a pleasant personality. I am still sore about that extended ad for Royal C. Plus my picks didn't win!

I enjoyed the Tonys much more back in the day when everyone on Bway was a WELL KNOWN star. Today, I hardly know who these people are, nor do I care.

 

Star power certainly adds to the enjoyment of the show.

I usually love the Tonys, but this years edition was awful. Bad numbers, bad winners, bad nominees. What a waste.

The Tony Award Broadcast: 1960 vs. 2012

 

It sounds like the awards were broadcast in the stone age back in 1960. I may never complain about the Tony Award broadcasts ever again.

 

There were no songs from the the nominated musicals.

 

But the biggest surprise for me were the mistakes, or maybe not for Best Actress in a Musical:

 

---A tie for best musical...it took Celeste Holm a full 3:34 minutes to announce the second winner.

 

---Best Actress in a Musical was the biggest award; it was the final award in the show.

 

I thought it was an interesting read.
