So, here I am, using the free WiFi at the Montreal airport on my way home from a great little trip to Montreal.

I've been trying to learn French, and I can think of no better way than chatting up "le danseurs nus," the nude dancers, of Montreal. Actually, Montreal isn't a perfect place to learn French, because it is very english-friendly. I only ran into one or two people who couldn't speak better english than my french, so they usually gave up on French and switched to pretty good English.

When I arrived on Wednesday, they had just started the annual conversion of St. Catherine Street to a pedestrian-only avenue with outdoor terraces for the bars and cafes. It was fun to watch them build all that, and as soon as the street closes the energy changes to a festive and friendly atmosphere for the summer.

That's all good, but we're more interested in the stripper clubs, aren't we?

Campus has always been my favorite stripper bar, and overall that hasn't changed. Especially in the afternoon, the dancers are really friendly and range from a few twinks to fairly buff body builders, with most of the guys somewhere in the middle. Physically, my type tends toward the more muscular guys, but many twinks can win me over with some charm and friendliness.

My last visit was last December, so most of the faces at Campus were familiar. If you're like me, and enjoy the time having a drink and chatting with the dancers as well as the private dances in the back, then the slower, less-crowded weekdays are perhaps the best days to visit Campus. On Wednesday night, I think there were more dancers than customers, and I felt like the "belle of the ball" as whenever I finished chatting with one dancer, another would be be there moments later to meet me. With so many choices, it was hard to choose which dancers merited a private dance.

In years past, I had some mixed experiences with dancers who were very limited in what they would allow in the private dances or tried to play games with song counts and overcharge me. Maybe I've just gotten better at sensing when this is going to happen and avoid it, but this time around, I had consistently good experiences with private dances. I'm honestly not sure how far you can go in a private dance because I've never tried to push farther than what I felt the dancer was comfortable with, but I feel like I was the one holding back, not the dancers. If they tried to get me out of clothes, I slowed things down a little. I'm all for that, but not in a little booth in the back of a dance club… that just isn't my taste.

A couple of points, for the record, for those readers not yet familiar with the Montreal strip club scene: "Private Dances," which take place in curtained booths in the back of the bar cost $20 per song. The common newbie error is to get carried away and discover that you've just had 10 dances, and could have spent that $200 on an hour with an escort and perhaps felt better about it. To avoid this, ALWAYS ask the dancer to tell you the song count after every song. Think with your big head, not your little one.

On Thursday night, I spent some time at Campus and ventured down the street to the other stripper bars.

The first stop was Stock Bar. Stock Bar tends to have beefier bodybuilder types. There is more of an emphasis on the dances they do on stage, and from a purely visual perspective I think they're hotter. That said, the guys seem straighter and it feels to me like there is more pressure to do a private dance. Only rarely to the dancers at Stock Bar break through these barriers and convince me to go for a private dance. This wasn't one of those times, but in spite of my predisposition to dislike Stock I had a good time, and the dancers were HOT.

The next stop was JP's, formerly Adonis. This place has never seemed to find itself. The layout is awkward, the dancers are usually second-rate, and the vibe usually off due to the women in attendance. Having said that, I did meet a nice dancer there one night, and got a pretty good private dance. So, I consider JP's "worth a look," but keep your expectations low.

Speaking of low expectations, the final stop was Taboo. Until the new management took over last October, Taboo has famously been in a state of decline for several years. This trip, I have to say, Taboo was the biggest surprise. When I went there on Friday, it was packed; more than I've ever seen it. The dancers at Taboo have always been young and twinkish, and certainly continue to be. This isn't really my type, but I know that a lot of men prefer these "boy toys." A couple of these guys overcame my prejudice against them by engaging me in charming conversation and forming a great rapport.

The private dance area at Taboo is poorly set up, and doesn't seem as private as the other clubs, but the dances are only $10/song, which makes them a great deal, especially when you consider these guys' willingness to please. I was talking to one of the dancers about the $10 rate and he cautioned me that some dancers have been known to try to charge $20 for a "full contact" dance, but it is Taboo's policy that all dances are $10. My dancer asked that if someone tries to charge $20, I should talk to the management because it is against their rules.

So, a big thumbs up for Taboo. There were a lot of dancers, some of them quite cute, even by my non-twink-loving standards, and at $10/song its a great deal.

So, to summarize my trip: Campus was fun and friendly as always. Stock Bar was hot, but maybe too hot for me. JP's is worth a look, but probably not a long visit. And Taboo is looking better than it has in a long time.

Thanks for the report. Glad to hear that Taboo is thriving. My partner and I really used to have good times there and really suffered through it's downturn.

newatthis - can you post some links to the new escort faces or PM me if that's not appropriate? Thanks.

Great report, Corndog. Your experience at Taboo was a lot like mine. I didn't expect much, but I ended up having a great time there in November.

Nathan has been on my radar also. I'm a little suspicious of the fact that he's also on Canadian Male as Brian 19. What do you think?...
There are a number of escorts with ads both on canadianmale and another site. My experience has been that those who respond to inquiries are legit, even if they have different stage names on the two sites. (By the way, there are some dancers with ads only on canadianmale.)

Quite psyched as I'm heading up there this weekend with my bud too... I'm curious too how old those pics are of Nathan. That screen name saying 19 on one asite and his rentboy ad using the same pics at 23. Bit of a red flag, but might be worth a shot! Thanks for the heads up!

Looking forward to seeing the revived Taboo. It was a disaster near the end their during that last run a year or two ago. JP was the best of the bunch the last couple trips.

Will definitely post a recap.

Thanks for painting a beautiful picture of one of my favorite cities. Have not been in about 2 years, but will be going next month. Glad to hear they are starting to build the decks. LOVE the village and Can't WAIT to go!

Thanks to all of you! It has been years since I went to Montreal and, quite frankly after a few uninspired trips there during the "slump" I had lost interest. But, after reading each of you, maybe I'll go spend a few days there this summer. Thanks!

thanks for the input, newatthis. I had heard otherwise from a couple of other posters, so I was curious. I remember seeing him dance at adonis many years ago, but his dancecard was so full, I never got a chance to "sample".. I can relate to the "bad dance" from the ex, Pierre Fitch. I had a dance with him once, also at L'Adonis. He smelled bad (dirt and sweat) and was so NOT into the whole dance.

On a side note, the booths at L'Adonis were so small, it seems hard to imagine that Ralph could be in the same booth with you and his enormous penis and not be very interactive. LOL
