Where have all the creative threads gone?

I just returned from a several day sabbatical from the board. it was not intentional. I was just a bit busy and with little time to post or read the posts. i returned and found only one thread of interest, the 3 words that describe you, and that one quickly went awry, so i did not add my own three cents.

 

This led to my asking myself and now all of you:

 

When was the last time you found a thread informative or imaginative?

 

Compelling and thought provoking threads are rare and scarcer than ever. I recall a post by a late forum member, someone I had never met, who said his last good byes to us here at this site and his courage and acceptance of his death left me breathless and profoundly moved. Posts such as that, are what have kept me coming back to this site, despite the childishness of many of the exchanges.

 

Perhaps i have missed some threads which offer insight, intelligence or a dash of sparkling humor. If so, please point out any you have found useful, fun or informative.

Regretfully, 90% of the comments/threads nowadays seem to be

generated by 10% of the users. Some of the "10%" may be kindly and

well-intentioned individuals. However, their manic writing

fills the website with text that is mainly of interest to themselves.

 

One could "block" these, of course, but what remains on the website

after blocking can be a little uncomfortable for skimming. It is too

bad that "blocking" doesn't remove certain individuals completely from

view, not just their text.

 

Here and there, I've also seen, as you nicely wrote, displays of insight

that took my breath away.

Lately I have peeked on to the Board but not found much to peak an interest, and now will be away for a few weeks (possibly a month).

 

There are rarely serious issues discussed anymore as the threads get hijacked too quickly. I appreciate the really hard work of Dady and the other moderators who have to keep things moving here. Have we also lost out because the web site does not atract new members so easily? I came across this site long ago when it was operated by Hooboy and had an amazingly diverse set of very special characters, some who were outrageously funny, others very thought-provoking, a few - as always - a bit combatative and always ready for a good kick up of sand in the sandbox if you rattled them, but still, the topics in general were diverse, intersting, and informational, especially for me wen I was just beginning (in my mid-40's) to encounter the world of escorts.

 

My primary interest these days falls into a few areas - comments on escorts or masseurs, travel notifications etc... but I avoid completely the boards on religion and politics as I rpetty much do not want to go tere or waste my time there; I also avoid or skip over posts from certain individuals who seem to ave a hidden agenda here with each other that I find distracting, but I let them fight it out (or be sent to a corner for a time out), and simply avoid them. That said, it is rare to see newcomers here who can be as colorful or as challenging (in a positive, throught-provocative way) as some well-known members who have left or simply walked away.

It is potentially hurtful comments like "don't be silly enough" that can drive away many individuals. It really pays to re-read your sentences twice before posting, and think, "Can I phrase this in a positive and helpful way?" Some readers are thick-skinned; others are not. I think you just have to reflect whether you'd like to hear the same comments about yourself, and try for the kinder approach if possible.

 

I've seen some posters attack others for being "nice." To me, that just makes no sense at all.

PK, those of us that start Thread of diverse interest often find them of little interest to Most of the crew here. Although they will garner many, many views, there is no participation. Obviously they were interesting enuf to read, so where lies the problem. Apathy ? Over on OTHER sites, even a silly topic gets enthusiasm and participation, and noone says its useless, idiotic or a waste of their time. However seems people here ALWAYS have something to say when it comes to the nasty threads that "bash" people. Thats the name of this name I suppose. ?

To anyone with a large brain (as opposed to a large cock or a desire for one), there's a chasm of difference between a hate agenda/personal attack and a strong opinion. I realize some boys don't know the difference. I really enjoy gay men with strong opinions, even if their opinion differs from mine. This is a primary reason why I enjoy coming here.

 

In my world, offering the critique of "silly" to someone's idea, thought process, or action is NOT a personal attack. You may not enjoy being criticized in any way, and if this "thin skin" describes you, you don't belong on a public forum, especially a forum for escorts and the men who love them.

I like going to a bar periodically but it isn't for the "too loud" music or to have intelligent in depth discussions, it is merely to visit and have a couple of drinks.

I know when and why I behaved like a troll since 2005, and I have no problem admitting it and/or offering an explanation (publicly and/or to the site owner). Getting sucked into troll mayhem is very easy. It's part of the troll agenda and I'm guilty of it. I'm sure most members know what I'm talking about. But I've never received a Time-Out for instigating a personal attack on anyone. Time-Outs come in different shapes and sizes, and the reason for them varies.

 

If I criticize having sex with fat people, rip-off escorts, brainless assholes, and fishy smelling catty cunts, it's in general terms. I NEVER address someone directly. In fact, if you ever mention you are fat, I won't remember it. My brain is not good at storing minutia details that don't really matter to me in the bigger picture.
