Actually, some "better" hotels insist on that. It is one of the things I dislike about some of the 5-star hotels in Brazil.

More generally, I use my first name, but try not to disclose my last name until the escort becomes a "regular". Some agencies require both before sending someone over.

I have not had to use plane tickets since September 11th, but in the past I have purchased the ticket on frequen flyer miles. The escort just picks it up with id at the airport.

My concern though came from importing from abroad. I did not like the fact that the escort from Amsterdam made several U.S. entries in a short timeframe, and thus if he were asked to justify these repeated visits to different "friends" at different addresses that might involve disclosing my name then or at another point. I have subsequently left the import/export business for that reason.

RE: Clients & Escorts: Ever reveal personal info?

My previous West Coast regular got upset when I called him by his professional name after we got to know each other. It was a little strange for me, since I had gotten to know him as X, and then all of a sudden he was Y, and occasionally in the heat of the moment X would slip out.

Wow - what a powerful story Charlie. And very touching. Sobering to think how much changed in that escort's life in those 10 intervening years. Then you come back into his life briefly, and close the circle. Like a great movie. He still loved that guy.

Since most of the escorts I meet are from agencies, the escorts do know my real first name, because I tell them. As for their "real names" I believe the policy of most agencies is for them not to share that, for a host of reasons.

When I was first using the services of escorts, one particular escort and I really "clicked", and I said something to the effect of "too bad your agency doesn't allow you to share your name, etc," not really expecting anything in the way of a response. He didn't verbally respond, but wrote his real name and phone number down and stuck it in my pocket as I was leaving. He didn't stay in the escort business for long (the agency he worked for went out of business), but we've remained good friends.

Currently, I don't ask escorts their real names, especially the agency guys because I think it puts them in an awkward position. In my head, I may be curious about what real name is attached to this guy, thinking he seems more like a "Matt or Kevin" than whatever name he's using. But in the end, I want the escort to feel comfortable during our time together, and figure asking questions of a personal nature just might muddy the water.

"I'm Sorry, That's Too Personal"

Here is a different perspective. The Twinks and I often go out to breakfast or other shared meals. Some of them prefer to call each other by their real name and one, in fact, gets annoyed when we use his stage name, which is also his "porn" name. However, the fact of the matter is that two of them are fairly well known and at some places they get stares, they get gawkers, and they get asked both if they will allow themselves to be photographed with their fan or would they sign an autograph. Recently, in San Francisco, one gentlemen came back to our table after having bought a video nearby and requested an autograph on the video, on the image of that Twink's butt.

Even though we know each other's real names, we tend to use our stage names in public and often in private (just to make sure we do not slip up). This topic has come up before and, for example, Demon pointed out that most of his friends call him Demon as well.

On my two most recent overnights, one client requested to use my lap top to check his own e-mail. One of my AOL screen names is my full name, so he could easily determine it if he wanted to. The other client and I walked around San Francisco one afternoon where we ran into one ex of mine and two other old friends who did not know I had escorted then (or that I escorted now). All three referred to me by my given real name.

As Deej states, it does depend on the situation, but most of all it depends on the trust which may or may not have developed.
