I read the new review on Thailand bathhouses today and was really interested. They sound great, too good to be true. Have alot of you been there? Would you recommend it? Sounds like the place for my next vacation. Would love some other opinions. Thanks

The country is beautiful and the people are very friendly. Should you decide to go to Thailand enjoy all of the boys along with all of the sights and history of the empire.

 

Please do not go thinking that you will be able to score a bunch of underage kids. There are many new policies in place and you will get arrested. Nearly each day you can read in Thai papers about some moronic tourist being busted with an underage boy. If you're unsue of the boys age check their ID card. They have to carry it by law and they have no problem showing it on request. Remember they use the Buddhist calendar.

One thing you could find out for us is if the crackdown on lewd entertainment has actually happened. I keep hearing that sex shows are no more, that the boys cannot show dick, and that they are actually putting on fashion shows instead of sex shows.

Then I get rebutted that this is not true, everything is as wild as it was. But now, a friend just returned from Bangkok and he says I am right, there are no more lewd shows.

So let us know!

I returned from Thailand one week ago yesterday. The shows are still going on in Bangkok, perhaps a bit toned down from prior years, although it can vary from night to night depending upon whether the bars know that the police are around that particular evening. Even before the crackdown there was really only one bar in Pattaya that had sex shows and I think they are still going on (although the bar has a new name), but again the level of police activity on any given night can temporarily change things.

 

What has been going on lately is that the police have been raiding many of the saunas, conducting drug tests and checking the IDs of Thai patrons. They have also been hasseling many of the discos, again primarily concerned with drug use. The police shut down Pattaya's Hollywood for the entire month of November; I think Tony's Entertainment Complex was shut down for a couple of weeks. I don't believe that this crackdown has (yet) extended itself to the massage saunas like V Club, Albury Men's Club, Hero or Aqua, but more places like Farose where the sex is generally non-commercial.

It's purported that The Babylon bathouse/sauna in Bangkok is one of the best in the world. It's in a new spot now but is considered to be fantastic from the reports I've received from friends. When I was in Thailand in the early 90s-- I failed to make it there.

 

This is one place that I plan to return within this decade if my future plans come into fruition...

Sure, now is a great time to go. For some reason the rainy season is hanging on a bit longer than usual (it usually is over by late October), but normally the weather is at its coolest (which still can be pretty warm in BKK and Pattya) and driest from November through early February.

 

As for the police hassles, westerners (called farang in Thailand) are rarely bothered unless they are messing around with drugs or guys under 18 years of age. Don't do it PERIOD. The police essentially are cracking down on the lewdest sex shows, drug use, sex with the underage, and undocumented aliens from Laos, Cambodia and Burma. But it does not appear at this time that the government is trying to eliminate the sex industry, just control its more extreme aspects.

 

Although I've never been to Babylon (my Thai boyfriend tells me don't even think about it), I have also heard that Babylon is probably the best gay sauna in the world, although many veterans say the new Babylon is not as good as the old one.

 

If you are interested in visiting Thailand, I would recommend that you do so. Things are a bit different from the way they were a couple of years ago, but not greatly. Just toned a bit. Still plenty of gorgeous available guys, most for pay, some not.
