I'd like to put in a good word or two for Devon Britt-Darby, who recently announced a trip to DC in the Escort Travels section. I can't actually review Devon, since I haven't seen him since 2003, well before the difficult episode he tells about on his webpage, and so I'm posting my notes here. In the 2003 days, he was known as Devon-SF or Slimnmuscly.

 

He was my first hire and, in fact, my first experience with adult man-to-man sex. The reason I chose him was the personality he revealed in the online diary he maintained at the time. (Today, we would call it a blog.) He seemed to be a sensitive and intelligent person, with a good sense of humor and verbal play and a willingness to reveal himself in his blog. At the time, I thought I was dealing with my only chance (hah!) to have an escort experience and was anxious to make it just what I wanted. Devon was understanding and patient with me as I deluged him with questions and instructions about our meeting.

 

When he came into the room, I was so nervous. We just sat and talked for a few minutes until I decided, "What the hell!" and reached over to touch his arm. After that crossing of my personal Rubicon, everything went perfectly.

 

Devon found a good place for us to eat in the Castro, my eyes bugging out as I saw the overt gay action going on in the area. On our way back to the room, he took me up to the top of some building, and as we looked out over the city, he gave me my first man-to-man kiss. I intend to make it up to him sometime for my ineptitude in returning it.

 

He realized that I needed gentleness, patience, and mild sexual activity, and he came through like a champ. If I had known then about writing reviews, I certainly would have written a positive one, much like what I'm writing here today.

 

We have exchanged emails the last few days, and he is the same old Devon, eight years more mature and the better for it. BTW, look at his pics. He is no longer Slimnmuscly, he is huge with muscle.

 

Please read his blog, and see what you think. My impression is that he is not particularly interested in rugged non-stop fucking (I may be wrong), but other than that, I think he will be able to provide you with a lot of pleasure. I intend to see him as soon as I can, hopefully this summer, and this time I won't be so interested in the way he dresses for me.

Thank you so much for the kind words and the fond memories, gp050. I remember that day well and really appreciated your keeping in touch during and after my self-inflicted rough patch. Here's hoping we get to see each other again in the not-too-distant future.

 

Just to let the rest of you know, I'm currently staying in Washington, DC through Christmas but am making my way along the East Coast through Philadelphia and New York up to Boston before taking a yet-to-be-determined route all the way to the West Coast. I just read his post in the Travel subforum and do remember him from the hooboy days (never met him)....he's remarkably candid in the post about his difficult years and does have a great knack for writing - his current "job"...his writing style is pleasant, savvy, and intelligent without being flowery or cumbersome.....best of luck to him....

I really wanted to meet him for several years. He started out as a nice looking athletic guy who became more muscled over time. Most of his reviews were stellar, if i remember correctly, with an occasioanl bad one. Then I remember he started getting horribly skinny but still had biceps that popped and abs that you could cut yourself on because he had no boddy fat at all--this must have at a major point in his addiction. I even talked with him once about it--he admitted that he was losing weight but that was what he wanted--without mentioning the crystal meth.But even during his addiction, he was always friendly when I attempted to try to schedule him. I am glad he is in recovery and wish only the best for him.

He kissed me. But that was in 2003, as I said above, and while some scenes are still vivid in my memory, I can't remember if we kissed much at all. Must have been a mercy kiss.

Devon was also 'my first' and I selected him for many of the same reasons, particularly because I thought he would be understanding, considerate and was extremely HOT! And, I was not disappointed; he was absolutely the best both from an intimate standpoint as well as someone to spend time with and carry on interesting conversations. We met several more times (in NYC) before his troubled times. I read his Diary every day; it was always interesting and he was/is an outstanding writer! We kept in touch during his 'tough times' in MA but lost communication when he moved to Houston. But, since he left a boarding pass in my timeshare, I knew his name and through the magic of Google have been able to keep track of his career in Houston. His current pictures look great and I would really like to connect with him again when he's in NYC.

 

Finally, although not mentioned here, he is an accomplished artist. I am most fortunate to have acquired one of his paintings (they used to be shown on his website) and it has hung in a prominent place in my home ever since it arrived a number of years ago.

Well I have to join the crowd, Devon was also my first. It took me 6 months of looking of through websites and came across HooBoy. I was immediately fascinated by Devon's musings, one of the first open blogs by a gentleman. More than just industry, he did talk of many subjects. More depth than a certain others blog had which was more TMZ, Devon's was more indepth. He gave us experiences, as well as information.

 

I am sure his return to this endeavor is an interesting one and would love to meet him again. Kind of like visiting your first love.

Well Devon was NOT my first but he might well have been my second. I flew up to San Francisco a couple of times to get together with him. I even visited his apartment to view some of his paintings. I vividly remember his diary and his writing about a very over weight client he really seemed to enjoy. If my memory serves me correctly, and it might not, he even posted some photos of the two of them together. He was always as much fun across a dinner table as he was in a bed. We were even supposed to get together here in Southern California immediately after he left San Francisco and began his journey east. I am thrilled to learn that things have worked out for him and life is good again.

This is so exciting, to learn that Devon is back in action. We had several sessions during his occasional visits to NYC, in a variety of Manhattan hotels - he moved around and tried different places. Guys, it's truly humbling to see these responses and to have my stop in DC going so well, which is why I hadn't replied again sooner. I wasn't sure what to expect on either score, and I'm painfully aware that during my meth meltdown I gave people reason to feel differently about me. It means a lot to me that for those of you who have posted here the dark days didn't outweigh the moments when I was at my best. I'll have more to say soon -- both here and on the blog, which I hope you'll give a try -- but need to hit the sack.

 

One small point about a very big guy -- the man known in my diary as "my biggest fan" -- I should clarify lest the uninitiated should wonder: He was what is known among fetishists as a gainer, someone who is literally turned on by getting as fat as possible. He also loved hearing comments about how fat he was, whether derisive or, as was the case more often than you might think, complimentary, and I had not only his permission but his strong wish that I post those images. Look forward to his inclusion in some "flashback" entries from the original diary into the new one.

Apologies for the belated response to this -- my stay in DC is keeping me busier than I anticipated, and I'm a bit rusty on the forums. Thanks for the kind words as well as your candor about what made you hesitant to hire me, because I think you speak for a lot of clients. You are right that I am not into bottoming, although I did do it some early in my career before deciding it wasn't worth the discomfort (in most cases) and pain (in many cases). Ironically, I started dabbling in crystal when considering trying to go back to bottoming again so I could open up a new market in San Francisco instead of traveling to the East Coast so much.

 

I do top occasionally but don't really promote it because I don't consider it my strong suit. For me the Catch-22 is that I won't top without a condom but lose a lot of sensation with one and don't think I have any particularly brilliant technique. However, it does sometimes work well with non-power bottoms. For me, frottage -- rubbing your dick against whatever part of another guy's body -- feels better than fucking with a condom, but more power to those wired differently.

 

And while it's not a 100-percent hard-and-fast rule, my general approach to oral when it comes to casual sex (whether off-duty or on) is that I prefer not to do it the first time I'm with someone, especially a brief encounter. This is mainly to reduce my exposure to, and likelihood of spreading, sexually transmitted infections, and it's something I take more seriously these days because of the rise of drug-resistant strains of gonorrhea and throat cancers associated with HPV.

 

(Readers of the old Devon's Diary may recall the time I let this rule slide, caught gonorrhea, and wrote about it in a series of posts during my treatment time, which I dubbed "Dishonorable Discharge Week." On the plus side, the guy I caught it from gave a truly world-class blowjob, so it wasn't entirely in vain.) I do, however, kiss.

 

The guys I usually have the best chemistry with are those who, as you say, are generally muscle worshippers who don't need an extreme bodybuilder type -- but who like intensity -- and who enjoy lots of physicality and body contact over anal and oral. I also do very well with guys who are into gutpunching and wrestling and/or domination scenes (I am versatile in those senses), although I should mention I have no background or training in proper competitive wrestling. So, I was able to reconnect with Devon today after so many years that he was "out of action." I can report that Devon is in great shape and remains a terrific fellow to meet.
