(from wnbc.com)BERLIN -- Ultra-eccentric pop-star Michael Jackson shocked fans once again Tuesday.

While on a visit to Berlin, the aging star shocked fans by dangling a baby from his hotel balcony.

Just before the incident, some 200 fans screamed and cheered as Jackson waved from the balcony, then returned to his room. When he emerged back onto the balcony, he was holding a young baby in his right arm with a towel over its head.

The cheers soon turned to screams of fear as the crowd watched Jackson briefly extend the baby over the railing. It did not appear that Jackson had a good grip on the baby, as he held it with just one arm.

Initial reports said that the baby was one was of Jackson's three children, although those reports have not been confirmed.

I saw it on the news too and was shocked! He's a fucking idiot. What possible reason could he have to risk the life of that child by dangling it over a fourth floor balcony!? I think he should be arrested and charged with child endangerment.

I'll guess i'll be the one to take things with a grain of salt here...

Thanks for the laughs ad rian ;) I'm always up for a good dose of punnage.

As for Jackson, should we have come to expect anything less? I mean, this IS the man who let Liza Minelli slur out 'You Are Not Alone' on his television special months back...

Has he no shame, indeed.

Warmest Regards,

Another reason not to like Germans. You think with all the technology they could keep him out of their country.

I just seen a pic in some paper or magazine with MJ bottle feeding a goat, with his friends Siegfled and Roy. Why must we be subjected to fotos of this freak show.

The Hotel Adlon, where Jackson did whatever with the baby, is located in the former East Berlin at the Brandonberg Gate. It was the model for the movie and musical "The Grand Hotel" and is located across from the Reichstag on a street where Hitler gave many speeches to adoring crowds. I am sure that Jackson is unaware of the history of the hotel and the surrounding area, since he lives in his own world but knowing something about the location makes this even more weird. The hotel is full of pictures of Marlene Dietrich, Germany's most famous anti-Nazi woman. Jackson probably does not even know of

Dietrich's anti-Nazi past, just another movie star from an earlier era to him and not even a fellow child star.

The fourth floor is very high up, if the baby had fallen only a miracle could have saved the baby's life. As many others have said,

how do we get those poor children away from that man!

Michael Jackson apologizes (of course)

Associated Press - On Tuesday night, Jackson issued a statement saying he had gotten carried away when fans below the window asked to see the baby.

"I made a terrible mistake," he said. "I got caught up in the excitement of the moment. I would never intentionally endanger the lives of my children."

European media scolded Jackson for the incident, with Berlin's BZ daily calling his behavior "foolish." Sweden's Expressen headlined its story "Jackson plays with the baby's life."

In Britain, Jackson was chastised in The Sun tabloid under the headline "You lunatic" and in the Daily Mirror as "Mad bad dad."

"The Berlin police should arrest this negligent father for reckless endangerment of his own child," said an editorial by Mirror show business editor Kevin O'Sullivan.

Berlin prosecutors said they were not investigating the incident, although an inquiry could be opened if a complaint was filed.

Promoters of Thursday's Bambi ceremony, during which Jackson will receive a lifetime achievement award, played down the flap.

"Some people obviously found it strange, but that's why Michael Jackson has given an explanation for the incident," said Patricia Riekel, editor of celebrity magazine Bunte and a board member at publisher Burda, which organizes the Bambis.

"I thought it was a very spontaneous action and he loves children. I don't think it was dangerous," Riekel said at a news conference on the awards.

On Wednesday, teenage fans still crowded the pavement in front of the luxury hotel, hoping to glimpse Jackson and breaking into intermittent screams of excitement even though Jackson was nowhere in sight.

"It was rather bizarre, what he did," said 17-year-old Joerg Diestel of Berlin. "But Michael's a bizarre person."

Maria Hunyadi, 15, from Budapest, Hungary, said, "I thought it was dangerous, but he probably did it spontaneously."

Uta Nierlein, a 16-year-old fan from Berlin, said, "If I had a child I wouldn't hang him out of the window like that."

The Chicago-based advocacy group Prevent Child Abuse America criticized Jackson's behavior, though it said the boy did not appear to be harmed.

"It is a painful reminder that even the most well-intentioned among us sometimes act in ways that put children in danger of being abused or neglected," said A. Sidney Johnson, president and CEO of the group.

Another bullshit story. He had the baby´s head wrapped with a towel. Clearly, he did not dangle the baby with one hand over the window railing in order to show his baby to the crowd. His children should be taken into a court´s custody until he´s gone through a psychiatric evaluation to see if he´s fit to be a parent. His behavior has become increasingly bizarre. He even went to court, while trying to prove he didn´t cancel out on an engagement agreement, wearing a surgical mask. Clearly, anyone with even an ounce of sanity would realize that if you´re trying to at least feign a sound mind, you don´t show up in court wearing a surgical mask!! }(
