Because Apple gives domestic partnership benefits to same-sex partners of employees and they made an openly gay man the successor to Jobs, that's why!

Religious fanatics have always been around and will always be around. While I thoroughly detest what they do, their signs and their slogans, I too value our freedom of speech too much to stop them. Once freedom of speech is stopped for one segment of society then it will spread to dangerous levels.

I think they are ignorant fools, but here in America it is their right to claim that title

Rep. John Shimkus (R-IL) and a spokesperson for Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL) have condemned the Westboro Baptist Church for announcing they would protest the funerals of Harrisburg residents who died last week during a tornado.

The Westboro Baptist Church believes that God is punishing the United States because of America’s acceptance of homosexuality and has gained infamy for picketing the funerals of public figures and military members.

The church said it would picket in Illinois because the state is considering legislation that would restrict their ability to protest at funerals.

“I witnessed the devastation firsthand, and I know the people of Harrisburg are strong and resilient,” Shimkus said.” But protesting in the wake of disaster and at funerals is not appropriate. The citizens of Harrisburg should be allowed to mourn and rebuild their lives and community without this offensive distraction.”

“It is appalling that a group would use hateful and incendiary language against the grieving men and women who lost loved ones as a result of Wednesday morning’s storm in Harrisburg,” said a spokesperson from Kirk’s office. “The group should leave Illinois immediately and allow the residents of Harrisburg to grieve in peace.”

These people offend me on so many levels, but I think the worst thing of all is that they think that their message of hate is God's word. I'm certainly no saint, but I think these people will be in hell long before me. They portray God as a vengeful, hateful spirit.. and I'm thinking that doesn't sit well with the Big Guy.

These wackos were planning on protesting at the funeral of one of the students killed at Chardon High School in Ohio. The community organized and was prepared to form a "human barricade" to shield the family from the protests but it seems that the West Baptist Church had second thoughts and stayed away. I can't imagine what type of person would be drawn to be part of such a protest.
