There are many countries where one can live that have stable governments. If you have concerns in this regard, it is easy to keep your money in a safe place such as Switzerland and receive monthly payments from your investments.

Yeah, those conservatives that hang out in front of abortion clinics shooting doctors and calling women “baby killers” aren’t dangerous. And those conservatives that go to funerals shouting, “fags burn in hell” aren’t being at all intolerant.

There are whack jobs and extremists on both sides, but if you’re going to make sweeping generalizations, be sure to sweep in both directions.

Nothing seems to rile us up as much as politics. I guess that's a good thing. It seems to me it's better to get upset over how the country is being run than which escort gives the best blow job. Gay people are just as political as anyone else, and as we can see here, just as diverse in our opinions. I am amazed that there as many conservative gay peole as there seems to be, but it obviously should be noted. I think we all love our country, but apparently have different views on how to attain life, liberty and pursuit of happiness for all of us.

Some of us, anyway. Anybody else notice that the James Dean nude and Justin Timberlake threads, with far fewer replies, have hundreds more hits than this one? :7

Most escorts, I suspect, have had the opportunity to meet plenty of gay conservatives through our work; I know I have. I've enjoyed getting to know them and to hear their perspectives, and that's partly why I don't buy the line that gay Republicans are unintelligent, insincere, selfish, or self-hating. And I don't doubt the inroads they've made in their party, or that in so doing they've helped gays across the country. I can think of at least three states off the top of my head in which it was Republican governors who signed the gay rights bill into law, and I wouldn't be surprised if there were more. You don't have to be a Republican to see that it's a good thing if there are gays (and pro-choice people) working to change that party from within.

That's an unfair comparison because in the last week, there have been about 9 or 10 threads devoted to the election. Someone needs to create at least 8 more Justin/Dean threads and then we'll talk. :p

Actually, I am always intrigued by the ratio of hits to replies. My casual general observations are these: Politics generates fewer hits, but more replies. Relationship isues with escorts generate many hits but fewer replies. Rick Munroe humorous posts generate lots of replies but few hits. Les's pics generate lots of hits and lots of replies. Very generally, it does seem to me that across the board the more heat generated by the post, the fewer the actual hits are generated.

Hey Trav,

I was happy you brought the topic of the "estate tax" to life! Not to sound like the evil greedy son, but I didn't want to keep my aging folks on life support means till 2010. The ONLY year that the current compromised tax bill will be at 0% ... REPEAL THE ESTATE TAX! and to hell with all my irrevocable trust funds. Coop.

That makes no sense. And anyway, I rarely start my own threads; I usually reply to ones already in progress with some smartass post. There's no way to tell how many hits an individual post gets. :p

I am just basing this on the numbers in the conference home page that lists the number of replies and the number of hits. I dis not say it was a scientific conclusion, just a casual observation.

I've been really bummed out the last couple of days because of the elections. Then a friend kindly reminded me of my chosen candidate's web site. His words of consession really cheered me up and reminded me not to forget the larger battle ahead:

"Our campaign comes to an end. We fought the good fight, we stayed the course, we kept the faith.

"To all of you whose concerns are our concerns and are tempted to walk away thinking our democracy is corrupted by big money and special interests, I share your frustration.

"But we must never, never, never surrender our right to continue our fight for working men and women, for seniors on fixed incomes who need prescription drugs at a reasonable cost, for children who deserve an education system that gives them a chance to pursue their dreams, to minorities who rightfully demand a place at the table and to gays and lesbians who ask only to be treated as human beings.

"We Democrats have a special responsibility to the poor and the powerless, to those voices that are not being heard in Washington and Columbus [OH].

"Our cause is not just victory at the polls, our cause is to speak out and fight for economic and social justice.

"So the battle is lost for the moment but we shall live to fight another day. We are bloody but unbowed. We accept this outcome because the people have made their decision but we should never accept this idea that we cannot convince our fellow citizens that what we fight for will not someday come to pass.

"Our cause continues, our work is not done and we will overcome someday. "

Well it was a foregone conclusion really once you take into consideration Middle Americas votes for the M-I-C which were basically a mandate that he didnt have in 2000 and that is also the start of the 2004 Election campaign.

The major problem now is to galvanise the Democratic Party into getting someone to run against the M-I-C in 2004 at the moment there is no one who is strong enough and with the Republicans locking things up it gives the M-I-C and his administration all the opportunities to deflect attention away from the domestic issues of the economy and put the foreign policy under the spotlight i.e Bush as the global cowboy riding to the rescue of those less fortunate.

That makes me laugh so much up until 9/11 the foreign policy was 'we dont care'now we wanna overthrow Saddam (UNFINISHED BUSH FAMILY BUSINESS)along with oil interests and with the bomb in Bali(one of the softest targets you could get)the momentum for the 'war on terror'is still going .

As i posted before the strange thing is that although the 'war on terror's' main aim was to find Bin Laden and bring him to justice surprise surprise that hasn't happened ,Bin Laden has disappeared off the face of the Earth and all the resources of the USA and others cant find him-hey that's a good trick i wonder if David Blaine taught him that one.

As someone who is neither pro-Democrat or Republican but like a lot of fellow posters one who votes on ISSUES rather than following party lines blindly i find it disheartening and a little frightening that so many people could be taken in.

I think the main problem is that there are so many small town and cities where people believe honestly that voting for a war mongering idiot who knows no better will make America 'great'-Sigh......

Notice that the parties remain close in total numbers, even though the number of hispanics and other non-white minorities is growing rapidly. This shows that the parties are increasingly dividing along ethnic and racial lines: the Republicans attracting the whites, and the Dems attracting non-whites with their promise of freebies and give aways. But, while blacks and other minorities overwhelmingly vote Democrat, they are more apathetic and less disclipined, consciencious and patriotic than whites. The big problem the Democrats have now is that they can't get their people to the polls. There is a solution unfortunately. The Dems will work hard to promote racial hatred and anger to motivate their people to the polls. They already do this by accusing the Republicans of racism when it is expedient, but racial hatred will become their primary program in the future. If you think they will be reluctant to promote racial hatred, remember that they have always worked to promote class hatred with their rants against tax cuts and the like.

Seems to me that first they will have to claim the mantle of racial hatred from you. Go back and read the first two statements above. Don't lecture others on racism until you deal with your own.

Aren't you charming? Let's see if this generates any outrage here?

Against my better judgement, here is a substantive response. The real problem is that the Democrat Party post DLC and Bubba Clinton is a party loyal only to two ideas - abortion rights and support for Israel. Everything else is negotiable. That's fine, but nobody should be surprised that the Black and Hispanic Vote stays home rather than vote for pro-abortion and pro-Israel Republicans dressed in drag as Democrats. There are more votes for Democrats by getting their left base out rather than the trying to compete in the ever right wing center.
