In a parallel thread to having an escort committing fraud, I had an experience where an overnight CL escort left the next morning and stole some artwork from the lobby of my condo (the condo regularly displays art from local galleries) when the doorman was not around. The building management first posted a very general statement that asked whoever committed the theft (not in those words), to replace it as soon as possible. When no one came forward, the building manager came to me and asked me discreetly to identify the person in a security video (security cameras are everywhere, hallways, elevators, garage, etc..) as it was the individual who exited my floor and was also the one seen in the elevator with me the night before (according to the video). I casually mentioned it was a casual "friend" and that I would get the pictures back.

I traced his real name from his phone number and made an impassioned plea for return of the pictures. At first there was no response, but over 2 weeks of harassing him, he decided to fedex back the pictures back and all was resolved. However, i've learned to never let an escort leave on his own and always walk him down to the lobby and make sure he exits the building....

not a happy ending

not happy at all! I am sure it embarrassed the hell out of you. In my opinion the world needs to know who this was to protect the public. What sucks is that now even the honest guys will be viewed as potential thieves. I HATE that feeling but it happens occasionally........on a personal note: 2 years ago while traveling I had a session with a gay couple not go well. The client got rough and I cancelled and got the hell out of the place. A day later I get a call that an expensive piece of jewelery was missing and did I know where it was. I was indignant and of course knew nothing of it. Client said he was going to call the police for an investigation. I was hurt, insulted and very sad! The asshole actually posted a negative review ASSUMING without facts that I took it. Well, the next day I get a very sincere and apologetic phone call that the maid found the piece under the couch- safe and secure. The client withdrew the review and called off the cops. I did NOT break the rules of discretion but for one of only a few times in my life I was very tempted too!

Craigslist ... enough said. :(

Sorry to hear about your troubles, Maple.[/color]

The OP should have hired from a more reputable source, such as Rentboy. He'd only be out a watch and some cash.

Craigslist is just shady like that. Not to say it won't happen elsewhere. But...craigslist has it's good points in merchandise. I use it all the time to buy stuff and people have been really nice. You get a few flakes though (like people selling cars in unbelievably immaculate condition only for the phone and email to be bogus)

I don't really agree with the whole walk an escort downstairs to the lobby and some clients may feel uncomfortable doing that if they are really discreet. I leave on my own all the time I don't think most escorts are out to steal artwork on a regular basis.

I don't think it's good to hire with suspicion either because not long ago (being as vague as possible not to embarrass him if by chance he ever comes on this forum)...but a guy I met before once lost his wallet the morning after our overnight. He thought I'd taken it and I had empty my bag out twice. I thought he was just pulling a fast one...but it turned out he'd hide it after we both had a bit to drink and he'd forgot where he put it. Eventually he found it...

But regardless a scary situation and if a client has already been taken advantage of then they can assume everyone is the same. Of course it can go vice versa as well...but we're dealing with the other party in this particular topic LOL.

What an amazing story from the OP. The fact that an escort would steal artwork from the building astounds me. The fact that he ultimately returned it is even more astonishing. Good job to the OP for the pressure he put on the escort. Also, good advice to walk an escort out of the building (whether condo, hotel, or apartement) in order to be sure they are gone. Probably not required for an escort with whom one is familiar and and where a trusting relationship exists. But for a first timer........for sure.

A massage person I know came back into the room to find the client going through his pants pockets. Each side of the relationship can have bad seeds. Should escorts also walk clients out to make sure they don't do anything wrong?

I agree bad can go both way. I was assaulted and pepper sprayed in the face in 09. I learned to never turn my back on a client.

I don't disagree with you at all. There are sleazy clients as well. If a first time client visits an escort for an in-call, it would be prudent as well as smart business for the escort to walk the client to the exit of the building. No issue with that at all.
