I have been using the same Start Page for over a year. It is really getting old, the look and the ads are getting out of hand. You know that type that basically cover the entire page for 30 - 45 seconds and you can't click out of them :( . Oh, I have been using iwon.com and YES I haven't won :( .

Anyway, I was wondering what Start Pages others here use? All suggestions are welcomed.

I use My Yahoo. You can personalize content and it's free. I'd also recommend WebWasher, to get rid of the ads, and Pop-Up Stopper from panicware.com, which does what it's name suggests.

I come in through AOL and they recently added 6 new pages but this is my start up site on internet explorer once I go looking and always look here first. HUGS

I use no start page at all. When I fire up a browser, it's with the intent of going to a specific site and a slow startup page just delays getting there. ;-)

Probably the most *useful* starup page would be one that you create for yourself on your hard disk. You could put links to your "usual" sites and things that interest you, and since it's on your local drive it would be quick to load.

Interesting idea, storing a start page on my hard drive. Thanks :)

In other words a version of your bookmarks file with,

perhaps, a little more formatting ...

Actually if you are using Netscape you can set your

"start" page to point to your bookmarks file very easily,

but I agree with deej, "blank is best".

Right, I forgot Netscape stores favorites in an HTML document. In IE, they're separate files in the favorites folder. Not so easy to link to. <sigh> (It can be done, if you're crafty with VBScript and the Windows Scripting Host, but not trivial.)

Since I'm often doing presentations with my notebook, though, I don't *want* my favorites splayed open to the world -- you never know what might creep in there. ;-)

I really do like blank to start with. As I said, it's the fastest option.

Deej, don't forget about the Import and Export... command. You can use that to export all of your favorties to an .htm file that you can then customize as you like.

Actually speed isn't an issue for me. After all with a broadband connection it only takes a few second to load :) . Plus I do like to check the news and look around a bit before I head to my usual sites.

At first I thought Deej had a good idea, then after thinking about it ... it isn't really for me :) . I can understand why he would want a blank start page ... those presentations can be a little stiff and you don't want to ad any wayward popup before the show begins :) .

I guess I'll try Yahoo. A few mentioned it and it seems to have a lot of options.

Thanks for the info guys.

I also prefer starting with a blank page.

Now, as an aside (since some of you seem very browser savvy), do you have any idea what I could have done to cause Netscape 6.2 to always open in a small window with a blank sidebar area on the left? Furthermore, how can I undo this so that it once again opens full screen with no sidebar?
