There is a marked difference between political correctness, which implies societal pressure to conform and a personal philosophy which, in this case, led me to find your choice of words both boorish and offensive, not only to Mexicans but to anyone subject to being aware of them. That you have a Mexican boyfriend and use this language, says much about lack of sensitivity or perhaps, your boyfriend's willingness to put up with it in order to get to all the good in you, which you so modestly trotted out to defend its use. Hilter loved Ava Braun but few would say he was loving. Supporting a charity does not make one charitable and having a Mexican boyfriend, apparently does not make one sensitive to racial bigotry.

While some may tolerate or ignore this kind of verbal abuse, I choose not to be silent nor will I be silenced.

I grew up in a blue collar neighborhood in NYC and there are very few epithets which I haven't heard repeated dozens of times.

I just prefer never hearing them again and I try and make that clear whenever these words are spewed forth, whether from a teen on the street or a gay man who finds the word fag a pink badge of courage.

Well said PK. Too bad it will fall on deaf ears.

Oh Sticks-n-stones,

May break my bones,

But names,

Will never hurt me.

Richard

The last time I heard this, in fact the only times I have heard it, was from a child who had no idea how badly names can hurt.

I would think that someone as old as you, who I assume is an adult, would know that. If they didn't hurt, people wouldnt use words as weapons.

Well said, PK. Rich is either oblivious to the insults he is hurling or just doesn't care. just because his BF allows him to use insulting terms doesn't make the terms acceptable.

Fine, PK, it's your choice to stick your head in the sand and your arse in the air. I know an ostrich when I see one.

Hilter loved Ava Braun but few would say he was loving.

So, you wouldn't wear a pink triangle as a badge of pride? Thank fuck there are many gay men who aren't so terrified of being found out.

Well said PK. Too bad it will fall on deaf ears.

Why deaf ears, Scorpio? If you have a position on this, I promise, I'll listen. I'm quite capable of changing my mind. Otherwise I'd live in fear of losing it!

Really, are words weapons? Who do they actually kill? Name a single fatality whose died of hearing words.

I have to start to consider that Americans are politically correct cretins. Thank fuck there are men in the world. Real men. Possibly wearing a frock and full make-up. Whom I trust won't succumb to such mind-control that you seem to be subscribing into (along with a Prada T) that's profiligated by your PC political-party paymasters.

Maybe you actually do deserve Sarah Palin as President.

Rich who is the one with their head in the sand? Words and their intent have led to many gay youth thinking that suicide was a preferable alternative to hearing those words again. How many black Americans suffered the humiliation at being called insulting names. Call someone a coward to his face and my guess you will see that words are indeed weapons. No one dies of bullets, unless they are fired from a gun. No one dies from hearing the words, it is the effect that kills. You may be acting the idiot now, but you know better and my guess is that you act better in your everyday life. If I am correct in that, then you need to consider the hypocrisy and if i am wrong and you do act this way, you need to consider the consequences.

Words ARE just words - but when you qualify "words" to serve and to define only your specified purpose and meaning in life - that's probably where problems and issues arise with those words and your definition with those people who you are actually yelling and fighting against.

If you are challenging the world to define the meaning of a word or a term of a word - Then before that - challenge the world to define who they are as a people because without that understanding all of this other banter is without worth of our time.

When this website owner silences a point of view which might be difficult for most others to understand......

Then HE - The website owner here - is denying every one of you - or us- the ability to grow beyond who we are as individuals and people.

It wasn't all that long ago when we all had very few people making a difference for any of us all - except for this man.

And to silence a different point of view now - after all of what we have over-come is just simply un-respectful to whom we all have become because of it.

Words can indeed hurt. Words can incite. Words can drive LGBT youth (and not so youth) to suicide.

Since it is impossible to get people to stop using hate-speech, a project headed by actual gays to benefit other actual gays is called the It Gets Better project. They collect apology videos for people who refuse to stop using hate-speech in the hope of convincing LGBT youth that their youth is worth surviving.

You might want to look them up. With your vast knowledge of the internets surely you can find it.

If deej had the life which he wants you all to believe he does -I would have been the last person he would have responded to here tonight. Especially when he [deej] is so much more involved and connected to what scares him the most.

deej represents everything that none of us should ever want to be.
