Yes, anybody regardless of residence can obtain a license in NY. The catch is that you also have to conduct the ceremony in NY and then the officiant needs to file the form here.

All I know is that if they were smart, Bloomingdales, Macy's and all the major stores will be preparing for a rush on their "bridal" registries. The clamor for marriage licenses in about 30 days could be incredible.

One comment I saw pass through Twitter was that the only gays unhappy with this news are the ones that run wedding facilities in New Hampshire. :p

I read an interview with one gay wedding planning business in Boston that said they had pretty much exhausted the supply of clients in Mass. and were planning to move to NY.

Does anyone know yet whether the law allows non-residents to get marriage licenses in NY?

 

Apparently they are Estimating over 180 Million Dollars in Revenue from this long over due decision! Congrtz to the Future Grooms & Grooms and "Brides & Grooms" !

No. I was only curious to know whether it would be possible, the next time we were in NYC, to do something a bit different from our usual activities.
