I just got back today from a trip to Montreal. The gay village is starting to come alive for the summer with Sainte-Catherine Street closed to traffic in the village. I've been going to Montreal for the last 10 years and I would agree that the city isn't as fun as it used to be, but I still find it a great place to visit. During the summer months, there are all walks of life going up and down Sainte-Catherine street. The restaurants are filled with people speaking French and celebrating the warm weather. At night, the clubs open up and you here music up and down the street. There are quite a few homeless people throughout the city, but they have police officers out that prevent them from begging too much.

Now the clubs... The men are beautiful in Campus, Stock and JP's. Most are straight and have limits on what they will and will not do.

JP's seemed to be the most strict with private dances. There were some women there when I went that were having a good time and it was fun to talk with them about the different dancers. I had a couple of dances which were ok. I will say that JP's has the best lighting in the backrooms for dances. You can see much better than at Stock or Campus.

Campus - Great crowd of people. I was able to meet other travelers and strike up conversations with them. This is also a place where it was easier for me to have longer conversations with the dancers. They would sit with you for a drink, flirt with you a little and then go back for a dance if you want. If I wasn't interested in the dancer right away, I told them I was just having a couple of drinks and no dances for awhile. It sounds direct, but its better than having them hang out with you for 10 minutes when they could be dancing with someone else. To me, having a hot guy hang on your every word and laugh at your bad jokes can be just as exciting as a lap dance.

Stockbar - Cody Cummings and Marcus Mojo were the celebrity lineup at Stockbar last weekend. They gave good shows. They weren't available for backroom privates (even though they keep telling customers "We'll see"). I actually ended up with a group of guys who were hanging out with Tristian Bull and his cousin. I didn't know who Tristian was until his cousin told me he was a porn star. They were both great people. Cody didn't seem like he wanted to be there. He has a hot body for porn, but he almost looked out of his league with all the muscle gods around him at Stock. I never saw him talk to customers or even smile. Really disappointing. Marcus, however was just wonderful. He was talking with everyone in the club and quite engaging. He had a killer body that everyone wanted! His website will see a few more subscriptions after this weekend.

The men at Stock are just breathtaking! If you are planning a trip to Montreal, I highly recommend subscribing to Stock's website before you go. I was able to get to know some of the dancers before I made it to the club. Then I struck up conversations with the ones I wanted to take to the backrooms. They are ALL better looking in person than on the website!

A couple pieces of advice I learned were:

1)Don't go back with a dancer before you talk with them a little. It does make the experience more enjoyable, plus it doesn't cost you anything.

2) I found that the most enjoyable lapdances were from dancers who were there 3 months or more. Those are the dancers that know how to keep a clients attention in the back for longer dances. At both Campus and Stock, I had some less experience dancers want to keep their clothes on until the 2nd dance. The more experience dancers would always wait until a new song started before they would charge for the first dance.

3)Take a chance on someone you like for one song. If they don't do anything for you, just cut it off right after the 1st song. You'll know right away if this is someone you would like.

4) Once you find that great dancer...keep him in the back with you! 2 sets of 3 song dances are not as good as 1 set of 6 songs. Either way however, you will find that giving a dancer repeat business will only increase the quality of his dances.

Dancers I loved: Campus (Davey) and Stockbar (Billy and Santiago).

Lastly, enjoy everything else that Montreal has to offer. A visit to Old Montreal is a must! And it is so close to the village. Have fun!

I was also in Montreal this weekend. I agree with Minneapolis...the guys were great at Campus and Stock. I also agree with the Cody Cummings comment. He hardly gave anybody the time of day at Stock. Even worse, he was at Campus Sunday night making out with some girl. I realize he's gay for pay but....geez....don't come into a gay bar where you supposedly came to meet your fans and swap saliva with some girl all night! Marcus was very friendly and looks much better (and bigger) in person!

Thanks Minneapolis for your updates. I was there too. Here's a copy/paste from my post over at the MER site.

Campus: It was very pleasant during the afternoon shifts (3-9 pm). There was a nice assortment of hot looking boys to satisfy most tastes - from twink to gym bods. I reconnected with some old favorites - Alexie and Diego. Alexie is a cute, smooth Russian twink/inbetwink. He's excellent at playing host outside the back room. He's smooth and cuddly and very flirty without being overly aggressive or pushy. Diego is from Rio, Brazil. He's been around Montreal for awhile. He used to dance at Taboo during its glory days and spent some time at Stock. He's always personable, friendly and non-pushy and very sensual. I found that most of the boys were good at playing host. If you tip them outside the back room they will join you for a drink and spend some quality, flirty, boyfriend experience time with you. Chris was tending bar and sometimes dances on Sunday afternoons. As usual the night shift (after 9pm) features more muscular Stock type gay for pays. It also can get very crowded then. All-in-all I found that the Campus afternoons/early evenings are still a worthwhile and pleasant experience.

JPs: Spent some time here on Friday evening and had a good time. Yes, they allow women and they can sometimes be a pain in the ass when they monopolize a hot dancer's time. The crowd was about a 50/50 male/female mix. It's sometimes hard to discern whether a dancer is dancing for the women or the men. Having said that, all the dancers were very hot, some stunningly so. I did a back room with one dancer who I thought might be straight gay-for-pay but I wasn't quite sure. He turned out to be quite a hit in the back room. Very interactive and sensual with an absolutely flawless and stunning body to boot. I asked him afterwards if he prefers dancing for the men or women. He said he prefers the dances with men hands down since they are more respectful and spend more. Unfortunately, I cannot remember his name. His English was marginal but it really made no difference. The dance booths are upstairs and are completely curtained off and private with no 'hall monitors'. Dances are the standard $20. The booths are well lit, very private and comfortable but they could be a little cleaner. The bathrooms are also small and tend toward the messy side. All-in-all a pleasant experience. Some patrons detest the women, but there were women at Stock bar too, though definitely in the minority.

Stockbar: This was the porn star/pirate party/fire-on-the roof party weekend so the place was really hopping. I had a better time on Friday since it wasn't wall-to-wall standing room only. It sported a plethora of really hot guys. I'm not sure how many were regulars and how many were imports for the event weekend. Lots of high energy. Some of the guys could be overly pushy. I did have a pleasant dance with Christian - a hot, sensual guy from Peru. Excellent in and out of the booth. I don't see him on the Stockbar website so he may have been an import. He will be at the Boardwalk in FLL this winter so heads up on that. Saturday was Pirate Party night. Wall-to-wall people, but lots of hot guys.

Taboo: dropped in Friday night and surprisingly the place was about half full. The dancers, unfortunately, looked thin and emaciated and a little ruff around the edges so I passed. Nothing new here I guess.

It was great meeting up with Cooper et.al. at the Campus and Stock. There were about six or so posters in attendance from here and Daddy's.

Other points of interest (when you are not chasing boys…) :

Ste. Catherine Street is closed to traffic this summer (May 18 - Sept. 12) and becomes a pedestrian mall. Most of the restaurants have built decks onto the street for dining al fresco. Lots of energy, street minstrels and pleasant boy watching. You do have to deal with the occasional panhandler. The international fireworks competition will start up soon (June 25- July 30) on Wed. and Sat. nights. (http://montreal.about.com/od/montrealevents/a/fireworks_mtl.htm). If you get to The Sky Bar roof top a little early you can usually get a good viewing spot and enjoy a cocktail (and boy watching) at the same time. If you really want to get a premier view then head down to the Jaques Cartier Bridge. (By the way - the police cadets on foot patrol are absolutely to die for!)

It was a pleasant weekend for exploring around. I wrote about this last year but I'll recap here. Bixi Bikes (https://montreal.bixi.com) is a great way to get around and explore. They have rental bike stands just about everywhere. You simply swipe your credit card, grab a bike and go. You don't have to return your bike to the same location. You can drop it anywhere. Great way to get around the Old Port or tour Ile St. Helene.

Heads up on Cirque du Solei. They will be showing Totem this summer in the tent at the Jacques Cartier Pavilion at the Old Port. (June 15- July 31). http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/en/shows/totem/tickets/montreal.aspx

The Montréal Pride Celebrations will take place from Tuesday, August 9 to Sunday, August 14, 2011. The street festival is on Saturday and the Parade is on Sunday, August 14 starting at 13:00. Both events are a lot of fun.
