I doubt he is writing book as the questions he has asked are rather pedestrian in content and not particularly well crafted stylistically. Well maybe he is writing a dull and artistically challenged book. No i believe bcohen is merely looking for some basic information. After all, there is a rich tapestry of questions and answers to be found in the archives of this site, so if he were writing a book he would be better served using that source.

Purplekow: Sorry my prose style is so poor. I'll try to do better....your practical tip is very logical--many thanks!

I lurked for a long time, why? Because I thought I would be ridiculed over what I do. Also I felt that outside of my regular guy, there would not be an escort on the planet who would be willing to take a spanking from an old man. I was wrong on both counts! Once I took the deep breath, created a profile, put up the post in the fetish, and found myself accepted by others, given information, and had several well known escorts introduce themselves, the rest is history.

Sorry about my grammer. But you get idea I hope. Anyways, the Forum is a great site, and I intend to stick around.

I am a long time lurker for many of the same reasons others have stated. I made a few contributions when I initially joined the forum, but it was during a period when a lot of flame throwing was going on. Although I was not personally flamed, it certainly caused me to refrain from sharing my thoughts. I think this is the first post I have made in over 2 years or more.

It makes me happy to hear when guys feel free to post their thoughts here....There will always be disagreements and ugly postings....it is the nature of freedom to have the bad with the good....I am a regular posted here and happily have never been flamed or treated badly....I think itis all in the attitude you bring to the board....WELCOME.

I was a lurker for quite some time before I actually posted anything. I originally came here for information to avoid making mistakes. But then I discovered this whole community with guys sharing ideas about other things and I enjoyed reading that stuff too. Finally, someone posted something - not sure who, very likely it was Juan - that resonated for me and I had to chime in. Since then I've written frequently, but lately I just don't have the energy to come up with any responses. It does pain me, though, to read some really venomous posts between guys (some of whom I've met and really liked) who seem sheltered by the relative anonymity of the internet and feel free to write with no civility or respect for basic humanity. The mean-spiritedness and bitchy comments begin to fly and for a while that's perversely entertaining, but then I realize that I have other things that I really should be doing instead. . .

Compared to some other forums I've spent time reading, this one is relatively tame, even when the flames start rising. I agree, or at least hope, that the anonimity provided by a screen name makes some folks feel free to say things in ways which, again I hope, they wouldn't say or do in person. It does have some entertainment value for a short while, then it simply gets annoying.

Guest Rich.

Hey GC

I also don't understand how forum posters who have lurked for "so long" all of a sudden come out of hiding for some typically totally random posting and then start posting with amazing frequency. I mean are these really "new people"?

I had the potential to fit that profile!

I've been aware of this Forum for many years, and used to browse often. Then I train-wrecked my life and stopped using Escorts. Hell, I've stopped having sex! Not that I miss it that much, all the messing about with hot shaving foam and knotted string, the hours spent cleaning the chandelier afterwards, etc. was doing my head in.

OK, I was asked a question a few days ago and figured I could find the answer here. No, really, I was lurking for research purposes only! At the same time, GC, your post was top of the list, so I realised that I was about to fit your bill, ie. I'd sign-up, answer your post, and having previously trawled the Board there were probably half-a-dozen or so threads that have appeared over recent months that I could immediately contribute my 2¢-worth(less) to with "amazing frequency".

However, I've decided against it, as 1). I'd hate to be that predictable (!), and 2). I might risk being thought a fake new Member, a troll or an argumentative newbie and run-the-risk, as Showtimems pointed out, of getting flamed. Not that Daddy's comes close to, say, PornWikiLeaks, where I feel the need to check that my shots are up-to-date and don head-to-toe Kevlar before browsing, let alone posting!

So I'm probably now a one-off poster, but thanks to suggestions by Members such as Doitb4ugo and NYtomcat at least I've stopped lurking in the shadows and staggered out into the light, if only briefly.

sparked response

Well Rich,

it's certainly nice to hear from you. Hope we all hear from you again,

at the time when I wrote the posting, I didn't think it would have the response it did and spark some of the interesting threads it did. regardless of that, we've all learned a little bit more about ourselves and others.

thanks everybody for all the wonderful responses,

Gcursor
