The Jame Beard Foundation has recently announced the 2011 Semifinalists. Let's just say I've got my work cut out for me to hit a few more of these spots on the list....and I thought I was an educated foodie......

If you have experienced the cuisine at any of these restaurants in your respective cities, I would love to hear reviews.

Happy dining.....and please, enjoy great food in the company of great friends!

PK I can read it fine. Maybe you have to change your text encoding?

Anyways, I am a foodie too. I don't think good food doesn't have to expensive or require a lot of ingredients though. A piece of whole wheat bread with some olive oil is a great meal for me rather than a toxic food prepared just to excite our tongue and stomach.

Am I the only one who was unable to read to candidates due to an illegible font?

Estadio, Washington, D.C. This one's been on my list for a while now but never seem to have the time. It's been written up several times with glowing reviews. Thanks for the rest of the list.

Hmm I love Spanish food. I went through the reviews. My family is visiting DC this summer and I have a place to take them to. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing

Of the 2 mentioned for nyc: Blue Hill and Eleven Madison. I agree with Eleven Madison not sure about Blue Hill. Although my friends who have been to their upstate farm rave about the restaurant located there. ABC Kitchen? Is that the one located at ABC department store? I didn't realize there was one. I know they have a Pain Quotidien and a spanish restaurant, whose name escapes me at the moment.

Thanks again for sharing :) So many other wonderful restaurants to try :)

Cany, yes, to answer your question, ABC Kitchen is the space located in the ABC department store. I've seen photos of the space and it looks incredible. And have heard great reviews from friends who have dined there. It's on my list for April.

If you haven't been, check out Marea on Central Park South. Fantastic space, top notch service (attentive, but they do not hover/nag), and incredible cuisine. Marea offers a great prix-fixe menu at a fair price point.

And every time I've been in the city, I've tried to get a table at Spotted Pig, but the wait has been at least two hours and they do not take reservations; I'm tempted to walk in and shout, "who do I have to fuck to get a table here?" Spotted Pig is on the Beard list somewhere.

Go check out ABC Kitchen....or better yet, let's go together in April!

You are so sweet

Hey Brandon, yes I've heard about Marea but it wasn't on the Beard list. I've been to spotted pig and love it but you do need to go there around 5:30 to get a table. Otherwise the wait is really long unless you have a reservation (which they do take for parties of 6 or more i think). The Ace hotel also has the Breslin which is run by the same people as Spotted Pig and I think it's easier to get in there. Dinner with you sounds great! lol.. I"m in japan for the cherry blossom festival late March (plus some work) but will be back April 8th:)

Another good one for you to consider visiting is a tiny restaurant in the west village on Downing (i think) called Mas. It's quite good and a neighborhood gem :) There are other less formal restaurants around the city and outside (Astoria for greek, egyptian; Flushing for ethnic chinese cuisine; Brooklyn also has a number of sweet restaurants) which are also fun to explore! Hope your trip to NYC is an enjoyable one! April should be perfect time to visit -- it's so cold here today (20s) it's hard to even consider venturing out! You can almost order anything here 24/7: boys, takeout, flowers, groceries... lol.

In going through the list I realize that I haven't eaten at any of these places...not even the ones in my own city. I love good food so I guess I need to start getting my list together!

I was surprised at how FEW I have been in even in the DC area. Funny that some old well regarded places such as Citronelle in DC, Inn at Little Washington in VA, and Le Bernadin and Jean Georges in NYC were not anywhere to be found. Le Bernadin is Michelin 3 stars and 29 Zagat-highest in NYC. And Citronelle and Inn at LW are habitually top, top rated in the country. One real sleeper is Volt in Frederick, MD owned and "cheffed" by one of the Voltagio brothers who were 1st and runner up in Top Chef recently.

Brandon, when yu come to DC next, we'll have to try one of the local listings. :-))

Hey Brandon,

I was surprised to see that many of the truly great restaurants in Chicago were not listed. I don't know how he arrives at his list, but some of the outstanding ones are not anywhere to be found. I will take some time to tell you some of my favorites, but based on what I know of some of the cities besides Chicago, I don't think I would spend much time going to places on this list.

Don't forget, we are what we eat.

I love a man with great taste in food. I also love a man who tastes good.

I don't know how he arrives at his list...

If by "he" you mean James Beard, Beard died in 1985. There is no "he" anymore. The semi-finalists were culled from 28,000 online nominations and the finalists will be voted upon by a 550 nationwide panel, which includes the former winners. The James Beard Foundation is a fun opportunity for gay men who enjoy food. It's easy to become a member.

I love good food so I guess I need to start getting my list together!

Escorts as handsome as you and Brandon are smart to engage the public with your foodie desires and aspirations. Don't hesitate to publish your wish lists. Personally, I love dining in a star-chef theater and who doesn't enjoy a handsome male guest among the diners. What a great way to endear an invitation to a special dinner and not guide your choices by cost and affordability. (I should also say that sex after dinner is a no-go with me. I prefer to have sex before I fill my tummy with tasty food.)

Have been to both Boulevard and Slanted Door in San Francisco. Both offered good food, service....found the menu a little limited at Boulevard. Also noticed great service nominee for the Compound in Santa Fe. That one amazed me since have never found the service there to be notable.

Boulevard and Slanted Door in San Francisco are consistently good. Both restaurants have been in busniness for many years. I highly recommend both of these establichments. Gary Danko chef - food outstanding, service impeccible and prices in the 5 dollar sign range - good for a very special occassion

Rockhard, I enjoyed Ryaan's company a lot. Andrew Justice is also a great dinner companion too. We went to Alinea in Chicago together. It was a very long dinner but just staring into Andrew eyes made our time go faster so I know what you are talking about. I think just once in Alinea is enough for me tough. They are doing wine pairing up sells these days and I don't appreciate that and certain items on the menu never change. I really enjoyed food at Victoria and Albert's in Lake Buena Vista, Fl. I would certainly go back there again. Everything was excellent there. Both I and Ryaan liked it a lot. Hugs~~~
