Next month I will be travelling from the Northeast to spend an expanded weekend with a highly respected escort from the Northwest in Palm Springs.

I totally trust this gentleman, but would like any input from escorts or clients as to the proper and safe (secure) way to transport or have available this amount of cash.

Thanks for your input as this is my first post and I want everything to be right and enjoyable for this upcoming weekend.

What exactly is your concern: that airport security may give you grief, that the escort might lighten your wallet prematurely, that you're just not comfortable having X thousand in cash on you...? A folded stack of fifty or more hundred dollar bills easily fits into your pants front pocket and presumably stays there until you're ready to part with it. It may help ease your mind to get a hotel that offers a safe in the room just so you don't have a constant nagging as to what housekeeping may be up to.

Welcome to the board and I wish you a great weekend with your fella!

Assuming the bank with whom you bank doesn't have a Palm Springs branch, I would find a bank with branches in both cities. I would buy a Cashier's Check payable to myself for the large sum I would be spending in Palm Springs. I'd keep both the check and the receipt for the check on my person or secreted in my luggage (probably one each place). When I am ready for the large sum, presumably near the end of the trip, I'd go by the Palm Springs branch and cash the Cashier's Check. You might consider having the selling bank memo your Driver's License or Passport number as further proof of identity.

Welcome to the Forum. I agree with Kevin, a stack of one hundred dollar bills and 50 dollar bills can easily be taken and kept in a front pants pocket, etc. I also sometimes take a couple of five hundred dollar travelers checks, or even several hundred dollar travelers checks, as if they are lost or stolen, you get your money back. Travelers checks from American Express can be cashed in most hotels and every bank, so again you can carry a lot of "cash" without worrying about it. I also agree with Kevin, that you should use the safe in your hotel room. I often keep my good jewlery in the safe too when going out at night to some places where wearing expensive or what looks like expensive jewlery can cause problems. Enjoy your weekend in PS and your fella. Be sure and tell us about it and write a review.

PS... don't do what a Dr. friend of mine who was moving across the country did. He had $10,000 in $20 bills in a duffle bag. He was questioned by TSA for more than an hour. He was traveling with his family and almost didn't make his flight!

Love traveling with cash.

I rarely travel with less than a thousand dollars in my wallet. (What's a few thousand more?) I have an Italian-made wallet with several cash compartments. I don't like stopping to visit ATM machines and I enjoy the security of knowing I have plenty of cash to get me through the day. I've been traveling like this for a very long time so security issues don't weigh heavily on my mind. I suppose I carry myself as if I only have a dollar in my wallet as a result. If you walk and carry yourself with confidence, thieves tend not to see you as vulnerable.

Assuming you'll be staying in a hotel, most rooms have a safe. Most likely, you get to set the code. For hotels without a room safe, the front desk will often have safety deposit boxes for their customers. There are tons of people who travel with cash only (many celebrities travel with real jewelry, worth more than 30 nights with Benjamin Nicholas).

The only person I truly trust is myself (and my son). I never discuss personal money matters with anybody else. When I need extra money for some event, I always make sure I'm alone when I visit my safe or visit the hotel's front desk. I never discuss or deal with personal money issues with another person present. I always make sure no one is aware of what I'm doing.

And finally, I have insurance. I was robbed once in a chic Beverly Hills hotel and the fault was entirely my own. I accidentally left cash out on my bedroom dresser. My insurance covered every penny but I was required to submit a police report.

It is why God created the ATM card. Don't carry large sums of cash, even with a trusted escort.

I suspect most banks won't let you pull the sums were talking out of the ATM even given repeat visits, what with daily limits and all. And if it does, then the escort is stuck with a major stack of Andrew Jacksons. (Not your problem, I know, but why not be kind?)

My bank will only allow me to draw $300. cash per day from an ATM..

Not enough for my taste in escorts. :)

Yuppie dollars ($20's) are good walking around money because most any business will take them when they may not have change for a $100 but they are a pain in the neck for more than a couple hundred dollar transaction. So, even if your bank will allow a larger withdrawal from an ATM, it isn't likely worth it.

I agree with RH, just act "normal" and don't flash any thing of value. I have gone through customs with more than the $5,000 they ask about on the forms. I showed it to them and explained (briefly) why I had it and that was the end of the story. I am not so sure about TSA but then I don't care for Burger King rejects anyway.

Just get the amount of "Benjamins" that you think necessary, don't do any thing silly and carry on. When in your pocket they will not set off the metal detector or, I think, show up on the whole body scanner.

Best regards,

KMEM

Travel Smith has travel pants (cotton chinos) with two zippered pockets, including a hidden one behind the lift front pocket. Also vinyl envelopes with a belt loop which slips down inside your pants--but you may have to remove the money for the x-ray in either case.

Sometimes hiding cash comes back to haunt. I thought I was smart once in Manhattan when I carefully folded up several hundred dollar bills and placed them in my shoe. On the way to meet friends I noticed a shoe store and went in and tried on a pair. When I met my friends, I went to reach for my bills and realized they had popped out of the shoe in the shoe store without my realizing it. I went back to the store and the salesman had "suddenly gotten ill and gone home"... with my money of course. Since then I worry less about theft and more about my own carelessness.

Well Kaptain KMEM, I (like most here) am not a fat-cat Repiglican. Throwing 5 figure sums to the GOP, or flying a escort of ill-repute around for a weekend conjugal visit & mattress arranging is simply beyond my meager means...

First Bosguy -- welcome to the forum. I'm looking forward to making your acquaintance at Palm Springs. Especially if your gentleman friend is who I believe it to be.

Assuming I'm guessing correctly as to the gentleman involved (and I think I have a very good idea who it is), I would trust that man with my life. So I don't think you need worry about anything from him. If it is who I think it is, I might be just inclined to send him a cashier's check before hand. But that is only because I trust him as much as I do. Or take a cashier's check with you made payable to him (of course you'll have to get his "banking name" as it were, but I don't envision that being a problem. But talk to him and find out his preference. Alternatively you could take a good size pile of 100's (although it wouldn't take that many). Or you might consider just going to a Palm Springs bank and get a cash advance off of a Visa/Mastercard whatever and then pay it off immediately upon your return.

But first, talk to the gentleman and find out his preferences. If it is who I think it is, he's pretty easy to deal with and one of my favorite people in the whole world. You are indeed lucky and I know you will enjoy spending time with him.

I'm looking forward to meeting you there.

I didn't have cash on me once and the hotel neighborhood wasn't so safe at night. One clerk told me not to go to an ATM at night. The next day I went to a bank with an escort and paid him there. There was a service charge for using a different bank but I felt it much safer than carrying cash around.

If I’m spending more than a few hours with an escort I don’t know well I always take Postal Money Orders in the appropriate amount with which to pay him. Postal Money orders are very secure and you are not required to fill in your companions name at the time of purchase nor do you have to put your name on them. Now if I know the escort well I simply write him a personal check for his fee and be done with it. I carry $500 to $1,000 in cash and use versa teller machines for any additional cash I need.

I want to thank all who responded to my first post. I am looking into all the great options you presented and will have one less thing to be concerned about so I can spend 3 glorious days in PS with Tyger.

I am so glad Romann introduced me to the benefits of this venue--I look forward to learning and contributing much advise and friendships in the future.
