As many hear who have participated or read threads on GLEE know, while not a fanatic follower of the TV series, I have become quite the fan of DARREN CRISS.

So, I was happy to see Daddy post on the news of today (01/19), Darren's recent interview in "After Elton" which I am posting also here lest it get lost in the shuffle.

I had missed his amazing debut months ago on GLEE and was happy last night to catch the repeat which has been all over You Tube singing "Teenage Dream"

Followed in the next show with "Hey Soul Sister"

and then the amazing duet with Chris Colfer in the Christmas Show with "Baby, It's Cold Outside" - an amazing change in the original.

(Ok, I am a gushing fan already!!!). While acknowledging that the arrangements of the first two, and the back-up singing are (sigh, sadly) that of a major men's college glee club, still Criss has an amazing voice in these, and has a greatstage presence, and in the duet for Christmas, it is pure Criss-Colfer.

Seeing the repeat of his debut last evening, and the underlining theme of "courage" in his character "Blaine's" message to Colfer's character of "Kurt" and the bullying and loneliness the latter faced in school, was a powerful and timely message many here I am sure can appreciate.

As I have written too earlier, it was very ironic to be Christmas shopping this year in malls and hearing the Criss-Colfer rendition of "Baby, It's Cold Outside" playing loudly, and people doing their shopping without batting an eyelash! Boy times are slowly but positively changing. :)

Hey Cooper, thanks. Glad you put up the photos as it is interesting how he sacrificed his longer more unkempt look in order to get the part, and now sports the more preppy look. Personally, I prefer the look he has as "Blaine" - and nice to see he really has great genes (Irish-Filipino)! WOW.

  • 4 weeks later...

Well the new season got off to a great srart after the Super Bowl and last week's episode, and my favorite new character there, BLAINE (Darren Criss) has yet another great interview, and some nice new photos,,, kith a good look at those (nice hairy Irish) genes on his boy-man chest.

Yes in so many ways "hybrids" are. He has the sultriness of the Irish (and some nice hair genes, especially on those eyebrows and that 6 o'clock semi-perm shadow; then there is his really striking private boys school look, very preppy. But you see from the get go that there is something else that makes him so mch more intriguing - and that is the Filipino side, beguiling, a bit naught and innocent together. What is more amazing, as seen in the Advocate interview, is how multi-talented this guy is.

I'm a big Glee fan and thought adding Darren Criss was the only good thing about the second season...he is so talented and hot!!!

I'm disapointed that the show has become so disjointed. No real story line anymore and most story lines are created just to fit a song to sing. As a result, some story lines just seem forced and make no sense. However, I'm still a big fan!

Truth be told, I feel the same way about the show, especially after last night's. Aside from the fact that there was really NO REAL story line, and the movement between the sets of the school, the rehearsal room for the Glee Club, and the school auditorium was really mixed up, it seemed that this was just a bad attempt to insert some Bieber songs into the show. And of course, this week had absolutely no views of the Warblers (then again, they are the competition now).

Did like the brief scene of the guys shirtless for the Diva sing-off, but even that eye candy was too brief (even of their briefs).

The show is great, showcases some very talented people, and had a good unfolding combination of plots last year but is success ruining their story-line creativity?? I hope not.
