RUshNY has a great idea going with the book club, so I was curious how you are reacting to the fall theater season. I've already seen Take Me Out, The World Over, and Little Ham. The better of the three is The World Over. Unfortunately, Little Ham can't shake those scrambled eggs. They had prop problems, lighting problems, sound problems, and a hyperkinetic pacing.

Tomorrow, I se Slut at The American Theater of Actors. Next week is Burn This and Comedy of Errors.

So, anybody else going to some shows?

I also liked "The World Over." What was your reaction to Justin Kirk's performance. Justin is a wonderful actor when he plays gay roles ("Ten Unknowns", Bobby in "Love! Valour! Compassion!, Prior

in "Angels in America,"), but did not like him much in "The World Over" or TV's "Jack & Jill" when he plays it staight. Kirk says he is not gay. (I known "Angels in America" won't be on HBO until 2003, just saw part of the filming in NY.) Kirk performance in "Ten Unknowns" as the drugged out party boy painter was truly great!

I thought Justin's performance was truly wonderful. And speaking of "Love, Valour, and Compassion" Randy Becker was watching the show that night. I used to have a super crush on him, but now, with his clothes on, it's ho-hum!

Derek & I loved Edward Albee's The Goat (man has sexual affair with a goat; wife finds out & freaks out) with Bill Pullman & Mercedes Rheul...we're going back in a few weeks to see it again with Sally Field (this role is perfect for her). I love Broadway; when I like a play, I keep going back. I always get something new out of it...especially when a new name joins the cast. I loved Linda Lavin in Tale of the Allergist's Wife, hated Valerie Harper in it, but then I loved Rhea Perlman's version. I saw Kiss Me Kate 5 times, Full Monty 4 times...but usually I stick to plays, and avoid musicals (I won't see any of the Disney crap; I walked out on Aida; I was so bored). Anne Heche is brilliant in Proof...everyone should see that. My favorite Broadway plays this year were Proof, Morning's at Seven, and Fortune's Fool. All had excellent casts, direction, writing. Next on my list are Burn This & Frankie & Johnny.

This afternoon I saw Slut, and was surprised that there were no M4M guys there!

It is an off-b musical that starts out well, but then wanders aimlessly to the point of boredom.

I am really looking forward to Burn This on Tuesday. Edward Norton is one of my favorite actors.
