It was a great day for reality TV when the judges for Top Chef Just Desserts, passed over a homophobic macho chef for the talented gay (and very cute) chef Yigit Pura as the first winner of the reality show. The show also made a special effort to show extended shots of Pura's hot body sans shirt at the show's beginning. Maybe someone has time to find and post some of these shots. I predict that the articulate Pura becomes a major face in the effort for equal rights in this country as well as a strong and very pleasant addition to the culinary celebrity world.

Ok, seriously, how can a pastry chef look that good???? I eat one piece of cake and I gain 5 pounds (granted that one piece is an entire cake).

Damn Cute & Sexy! Definitely knows how to Balance Pastry & Gym Time!

At least part of that is called "youth".

At that age, I could eat anything too.

I've watched this show during its entire season and had always fantasied this young, gorgeous "pup!" I've admired and loved his personality, his looks, his articulateness, his sexy voice; his comraderie with two/three other gay dessert chefs as well as his treatment of his fellow chefs throughout, and lastly, but far from being least, his overall talents in the kitchen!

Last eve and friend and I discussed the finale prior to its beginning. Both of us wanted Yigit to win, but as most of you know, these reality shows and contests tend to have surprise endings. When Yigit's name was called as being the first winner of "Just Desserts," I almost cried, but I did yell out loud and applaud in the company of myself! I was indeed proud of his winning!

Now I will eagerly and willingly "have him for dessert!" Yum! Yum! Yum! Yum! Yum! (There is a beat to this!) -:) -:) -:)

He also won 10.000 as fan favorite. Andy announced it last night

Definitely my favorite :)

I have to admit, however, that this spin off of Top Chef didn't quite hold the same interest for me as the original does. Even with Yigit, I did not watch faithfully every week and probably only saw about half.

I think he actually won a car plus 100,000 , which is an incredible sum for someone starting out in his career. Not only is he cute and articulate and very poised, he also churns out great desserts and that in itself is quite a feat. I've gained a greater appreciation for pastry chefs watching this show.

While I was glad to see Yigit win, and I'd very much like to give him a prize myself, I don't think he deserved it. While viewers can't taste the food, of course, I think that Morgan (even though he was a total asshole) was a better chef. He certainly won more of the competitions, and the things the judges said about his food in the finale made me think he should win.

This is a problem with these reality shows. While I understand that considerations other than merit are used to eliminate people during the year and to award the final honor, it just seems too rigged. In this season's Project Runway, the contestant Mondo was a better and more interesting fashion designer than anyone on the show, and I'm including Michael Kors and the guest judges, yet they gave the prize to that unpleasant woman with the boring hipster clothes, for reasons I can't quite fathom.

That being said, congratulations, Yigit. If you're ever in New York and are looking for someone to have dessert with, call me. We can compare buttercream recipes.

Well I think one of the reasons Mondo didn't win is that Mondo's presentation was not polished. He should have toned it down. Yes Mondo is a great designer and he should have won but some elements were over the top. Gretchen's style, however, is well polished. In the end only four people get to decide and yes sometimes it's not fair but that's the reality show. Let's not put too much weight on it.
