You forgot "work from home and get rich immediately for only $24.95", or my favorite: "mega mailing lists".

I particularly enjoyed the mailing list offers during the 3 years I worked for one of the major suppliers of mailing lists. If their targeted lists are so good, DIDN'T THEY KNOW WHERE I WORKED????? :+

I'm working on these suggestions.

Can someone try to help me identify the cookies specific for this site, please? (there are 1000s since I allow all cookies.)

Remember, I am using MSIE on a Mac and not a Windows environment (and never aol here)

So can that info help narrow down which cookies to delete?

. . . . and I shall continue to "rant and rave" until I get as much cock as hoo! <sniff>x(

Most towns in Idaho and Montana have no local access number. Also, large areas of Washington state and eastern Oregon.

Ditto.

AOL can be a pain, especially if you must be online for more than 30 minutes. I get booted most times if I go over 30. It is, in general, a decent enough ISP. I had worse problems when I was with GTE.

I know zero about AOL - but please tell me why you would be booted if you are online for more that 30 min. - that just sounds absurd to me.

It generally happens because AOL's resources are overloaded in an area. It only happens with dial-up connections and the solution is to dial in again.

NYC used to be awful but it hasn't happened to me there recently. Two years ago, for about three months, it was miserable everywhere. But AOL has beefed up its resources so it doesn't seem like a big problem in most places. At least I don't experience it very often at all any more, so it doesn't feel like a problem to me. It might still be to others, especially in some places.

When you consider the sheer numbers of people connecting to AOL, it's sometimes remarkable it's not worse. As more and more people go to DSL, one would expect these problems to go away.

The popularity of AOL means that when there are problems, lots of people experience them and they become widely-known pretty fast. But friends on at least some other ISPs have reported lots of problems on those, too. I use Verizon at home for DSL and it used to be up and down like a yo-yo, but now seems rock steady.

No followup for this thread because my ISP (Charter Communications) was replacing cable modem and it has taken 2 days to get reconnected. Their tech service sucks (just like their stock!) in getting house call scheduled. But with the new modem and DHCP things seem faster (less time watching the rotating beach ball):9
