I'd personally like to thank each and every one if you who have written to me privately, in support of my Michael Jackson thread belonging in the so called "arts" forum, identified as the comedy and tragedy forum.

Although I have read and responded to most of your private communications, the truth is, with the unrelenting volume of support for my post, I have yet been able to respond to all of you, personally.

I will, over the course of the coming days, reach out to each and every one of you, who has comforted me during this most difficult time.

There is indeed a fine line between comedy and tragedy. And for whatever flawed and personal reasoning which might prevail, it seems that the art will suffocate within it's very definition and being.

I love you all! And after responding to the last of all of your supportive emails (which may take weeks)- I will be taking some very needed time away from this forum. It might even just be forever, as it drains my inner being and soul just to bring you the inspirational news and insight which I feel makes you all better people in my eyes.

Thank you all! Don't cry for me, I'll be fine.....I Love you All!

Chgo....:)

Michael Jackson - The play on Broadway

I'm just wondering....if ever there was a Broadway theatrical production of Michael Jackson's life....Where would the correct forum be to post about it?

Hmmmmm :D

thanks, NYT, yeah, that's funny.......what did that take - all of 20 hours or something?....

I never have looked at the "arts" forum, so don't really know what the hullabaloo is over there.....but I'm very certain it's gotta be some mix of comedy and tragedy, I suppose.....

Honestly as much of a theater buff as I am. I have never been in there either. Dont know why. But then again. To chgos credit I Dont get why pop music and TV are excluded. Just Sounds like too many old men doing the "them there kids and all that new fangled noise they call musack. "

I've never been an art snob. I like Chaucer and Asimov and a good trashy Harlequin romance.

I'm thinking the Fetish Forum.

The outfits.

The sleeping arrangements.

Sounds kinda "fetishy" to me.

Ain't gonna happen.

Sorry, your Grace, but the first (only?) rule in the Fetish Forum is "No Posting About Children!!!!"

Well said, NYTom. I hate the idea of anyone trying to define what "art" is and isn't for everyone else, as if they are GOD. It makes since to disallow children in the fetish forum... But it makes no sense why a thread on Michael Jackson is not allowed in the Arts Forum.

Surely jest or is that joust? I had read many books and short stories by Isaac before I even knew there was a Clarke. I still refer to the three laws of robotics during meetings with all the escorts. :)

Best regards,

KMEM

FWIW, I agree.

Yet another thing I had absolutely nothing to do with but will probably get blamed for.

Don't Cry For Pop Music

There is and always has been a fine line in determining what is art and what is not. Here we have a group of people who lobbied for an arts forum and got what they wanted. Now we have a group of people who do not contribute to that forum complaining that they are left out.

No one is stopping anyone from posting about Michael Jackson. The Lounge is the catch-all forum for topics not covered in the subject-specific forums.

To add television and pop music was thought would dilute the arts forum from the subjects of interest that are discussed there-which are quite a few.

If it is so important to have a forum in which to discuss pop music besides the Lounge, why not do what the arts guys did, which is lobby for a pop music forum. It worked for those who wanted a photo forum and those who wanted a fetish forum and those who wanted an arts forum. Chgboy could even be the moderator.

We all have our judgmental crosses to bear. Lapse of taste can be endlessly forgiven. :)

That is a VERY good principle to hold to!
