Ok is it just me or have others noticed a trend?

 

First lucky then greatness. Two what can only be described as prolific posters both deciding for their own reasons that somehow their time on the forum was at an end. While I support both of them in realizing that their lives had changed such that the forum was No longer the benefit it once was to them. It gives me pause that perhaps part of that is a trend to less thought provoking discussion here on the board. While these two departures were very vocal in their exits. How many others have quietly gone? Are posting less? Are checking in less often. While I love the fact the forum is an organic place with new members joining rank each day. I cannot.help but feel with each departure we loose a wealth of knowledge and experience

 

In thinking about this, I realized that I have had questns about escorting and hiring that I have just never taken the time to ask. Before we loose any more such members in their lives and time growing away from the board. I figured it was time to start asking. I would urge others to do the same. Perhaps if nothing more we will create the threads to make record of those experiences. More perhaps we will invigorate the discussion such that others will choose to stay. I dont know. But I figure its worth a shot. I still feel hooville is worth my time. And I get more From it than it asks of me.

I applaud your effort to invigorate the board. Anytime an active member decides to leave we do in fact lose alot of experience and the whole community suffers a bit. I'm not sure two departures, even those with high profiles and within a short time of one another, necessarily indicates a trend. Nevertheless, the intent to get people more involved and with increased activity is worthwhile. It does make me speculate as to some reasons that perhaps people do not participate. One thing that I have noticed that may be part of this issue is that there are certain cliques that have developed over time (which is understandable and normal) that in my view can and does keep others from actively participating. Not sure if others agree or see this but it is just my own assessment. I just raise it up so that maybe those who are part of those cliques may be more aware and help others become more active.

 

As far as the question of what prompted my first hire, it happened when I was on my first overseas assignment (1995 if I recall correctly) and I felt the freedom because of relative anonymity to explore something that I had strongly desired but never acted on before. Coming full circle… I am a child again!

As for why and how I first got involved with hiring… and this is the short version… I would guess it is a story that has been oft repeated. One is in the closet, one has repressed feelings… one has a job and a certain position in the community so that being open would be the kiss of death both financially and in a social context… add the AIDS scare into the equation as well. Im sure the site will change and adapt and members come and go and I think thats good.... its growth. but when long timers leave we lose a lot of the history. Well, Tom, great topic and one I am a bit of a wuss in giving out the full scoop on as it is still something I am living and working through. In thinking about this, I realized that I have had questns about escorting and hiring that I have just never taken the time to ask. Before we loose any more such members in their lives and time growing away from the board. I figured it was time to start asking. I would urge others to do the same. Perhaps if nothing more we will create the threads to make record of those experiences. More perhaps we will invigorate the discussion such that others will choose to stay. I dont know. But I figure its worth a shot. I still feel hooville is worth my time. And I get more From it than it asks of me.

My first experience with a rent boy happened while I was working in Europe in 1992 and took a weekend off to Amsterdam. Up til then, I had no intention of hiring anyone as I was in my mid 30's and had never really thought about it. Pk while I totally understand and your probably right that without hirers these guys would GE even worse off.... I think I would feel like seeker on that one. I totally understand the other side and realize they are working as any other escort does. But... for me to be turned on I agree I'd want to at least believe that the Guy I've hired likes sex and enjoys the job. That he has choosen that career over others.
