I read that they are planning on remaking this John Wayne classic.

Does that leave a bad taste in anyone else's mouth?

How about you, bart? I know what a fan of gritty, dirty, sweaty action you are.

Yep, filming for the Coen Brothers' remake of "True Grit" is underway here in Texas--in a small town called Granger. Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Josh Brolin are acting in the roles that were originally played by John Wayne, Glenn Campbell and Jeff Corey. Filming is scheduled to wrap in mid-May.

That's gonna be tricky. The Coen's will have to be at their best for this to work. John Wayne. True Grit. I mean that's like sacred ground they're messing with. I must admit that I like the cast (especially Bridges and Damon). It'll be interesting to see reaction, once the film is out, from those who are too young to remember or cared to see the original.

A New "Mattie"

Paramount is pushing for a December 25th release for the True Grit remake. Just in time for 2011 Oscar nominations, right? A relatively unknown/newcomer actress Hailee Steinfeld is playing the tomboy role of Mattie Ross that Kim Darby helmed in the 1969 original.

Well I did not know Matt Damon was in the movie or that is was actually filming but I am now considering changing my career to a casting director. How about Dame Edna as Auntie Mame?

Agreed, someone mentioned something about this whole thing to me too.

I agree with your assessment Okie, but you know if the the whole concept is done well and really carries the true dirty gritty feel of the piece. you dont seem to mind the "bad taste" quite as much. still maybe a new idea would be refreshing.

What do you think B.

Why not? Lucille Ball did.

Hell how about our very own duchess. Think you could pull off the greatest of Jerry's girls. No offense to zsa zsa but mame. I mean come on
