Remember the old days, or at least the pictures of the old days? We'd only see patrons of gay bars in the media when the cops came, and the guys were all trying to hide their faces.

Now, at the new Stonewall Tavern in Manhattan, gay guys are again hiding their faces, the New York Times reports. Nothing sinister here, though, unless the world of comic superheros and their battles with the forces of evil bring sinister thoughts to your mind.

The new Stonewall tavern has found success with parties where guys dress in costume, such as the men pictured here:

Casey Kelbaugh for The New York Times

POWER CUBED The Skin Tight party at the Stonewall Inn in the West Village attracts the masked forces of good, or at least their devoted legion of followers

Why the 'skin tight" parties so popular, the Times asks and answers is because "The common thread is that the muscle-cuddling garb often leaves little to the imagination."

Well, hey. I like that. Can you imagine seeing Superman's cock bulging in his skin tight costume? Thousands of kids might have been having ideas they weren't supposed to on all those Saturday morning cartoon parties.

If you are intrigued by all of this but can't make it to New York, then the Times article will just have to do. But, be sure to dress up in your favorite costume before reading further:

Thanks,Lucky

It would be fun to see some full frontal and full rear views of some of these "skin tight" costumes.... I don't get to NYC very often, so am not likely to be there during one of those parties. Maybe someone who lives there can do so and post some pictures in the Gallery for the rest of us... thanks again for sharing.

Those of us that can't make it NYC can console ourselves by going to see "Paper Man".

* Ryan Reynolds

* Spandex

* Captain Excellent

That's all I need to know about the plot.

I'd check it out for you but my costume is in the shop to be let out a bit.

While everyone is groping over the cock and ass mentality of this post, it might be well worth remembering that there are still some of us alive who actually were a part of the police brutality that took place during that era and take exception to this posters casual and non shallot titling of his post.

To gaga over men in tight shorts with hot asses alone, without really appreciating the history and sacrifice which this street address and community endured and overcame, is a travesty.

Lucky's OP title is as offensive as it gets. "Gays Wear Masks at the New Stonewall".

The fact is that none of us wore masks back then, which is why now, you can carry on as you do. You "gays" you.

Perhaps if Lucky had been as vocal and as selfless then, (he's certainly of age) as he is today, then, perhaps he'd be a bit more respectful and sensitive for what we have come through and where we all have come from, to get to where we are today.

But then, that would be something other than what Lucky was doing here. Just looking for another post with other peoples substance contained within.

Sorry for all the bold text, it just wouldn't go away.

If that's as offensive a sentence as has ever come your way, you have lived a truly blessed life.

Well, of course you are correct MsGuy.

I would be blessed, if that were the case, and no it is not.

What triggered my response was Lucky's personal disassociation to gays in his subject matter and his comment that "Now, at the new Stonewall Tavern in Manhattan, gay guys are again hiding their faces."

While it is true that during this time, many of our brothers felt it necessary to protect their identity - many of us, those of whom stood up and actioned defiance, toward the faces of those who threatened us with physical and professional harm, to this wrong, did not.

Flippant comments and insensitive representations of those times, even still today, when made by our very own, still stirs knee jerk reactions.

Sometimes it's difficult to decipher between arrogance and ignorance.

This might perhaps be an example of that.
