Long way around and perhaps not available and also perhaps too much money but I wonder if she or her TA considered LAX-SYD-DXB? I had a friend going from NZ to Moscow last week-end and he ended up going through DXB on the way.

I am assuming that she is in Southern CA because you list Orange County as your location. Of course, there is also an Orange County, New York but they don't have very much in the way of Ocean Beaches. :)

Best regards,

I don't think you will find one here.

I have a friend who calls herself a "born again virgin". I think with a little Crazy Glue and wishful thinking it may be possible.

Nothing like experiencing it all first hand!

Yes, I am here in London. The word struck only came into the conversation yesterday. I arrived here last Wednesday evening before the airports shut down. I was scheduled to return to NYC yesterday afternoon and for a while it seemed that everything would resume yesterday and I would be OK. When they shut the airports again, my super-duper travel agent really worked her butt off and got me on today's flight, so I am writing this at the AA Admiral's Club at Heathrow. This flight is still scheduled, although AA flights to Dallas and Chicago have been cancelled. Planes are continuing to land and take off.

It was a scary expereince because the news services really were not giving much information and they all had a doom and gloom coverage perspective. 'It could last for months,' etc.. The government had little to nothing to say and of course we never heard a word from the US government about the hundreds of thousands of Americans abrad who were stranded.

My hotel was useless. Whn I inquired about extending my reservation they immediately quoted me a daily rate of 70 pounds above what I was paying. It was only after, I, and others complained that the rate was decreased by 35 pounds!! I used terms like avarice, greed, and uncaring in my discussion. Finally they relented and reduced it another 35 pounds off the daily rate.

To top it all off, we were all informed that we had to vacate the rooms this Friday because they were fully booked for the London Marathon!!! Not even and offer to help book rooms elsewhere. I tell ya, next week I'm firing off a tersely worded letter the their regional manager. The staff were very uncooperative every step of the way.

Anyway I am glad the rest of the trip went smoothly and I had a really nice time. Look for my upcoming London Theater info and reviews in the next day or so...

Have a safe trip back. Which hotel in London was it? Sorry for your experience. :)

Bailey's Millenium Hotel on Gloucester Road. Shabby and not worth it! Many other options available in the nearby area.

American Ailrines provided me with a callous response to the experience, too.

I'm telling you, customer focus has gone down the drain. I say fuck em all!

'Ancient ancient history' The Captain will say, maybe even a MARM Alert from ISC, but...

The ash cloud from the erupting Iceland volcano could force the cancellation of up to 500 commercial flights in Northern Ireland, Scotland and parts of Scandinavia, the European air traffic agency has said.

Between 200 and 250 flights have already been cancelled across Europe, with more expected, said Brian Flynn, head of network operations at Eurocontrol.

The TSA has the capability to do worse and every day of the year. You can only fool Mother Nature for so long.
