My nephews and nieces talked me into getting a Facebook account, and boy, do I regret it. It is a good way to keep up with them, except that I get their horoscopes and other junk from games that they are playing.

What's worse, and is the basis of the question that I have, is how do I stop Facebook from emailing me updates wherein a friend of one of the nephews does something, and I am emailed about it. I don't even know thee people and couldn't care less what they do. So, can I stop this? It doesn't just go to my email, the email goes to my mobile, and I spend a lot of time deleting.

Thanks.

I thought we could delete our own threads, but I guess not. What I did was change the Facebook email address to one that I never use and does not go to my phone. Adios boring messages!

Thanks,David. I made the changes there as well, but left the dead email address since whatever I want to know about my account I can see when I visit it.

I'll be in New York when you are, so put that on your Facebook page!

(PS- After David told me how to do that, I also learned that I can block the astrology reports and game updates. Whew!)

I can relate to Lucky's situation. When I first got my FB account-- my niece who's in her 30s immediately wrote to me and stated that everyone and anyone has FB. She congratulated me for coming aboard.

I, too, do not like the notifications as to who did what to whom in my email account. Now I know how to rectify this!

Many hand claps go to my friend who apparently has a great affinity to Facebook! Thank you, amiable and handsome one! I can see your infectious smile brightly gleaming now as I type this!

oh Lucky

You must be cool to be asked to join them in Facebook. :)

Thanks, David! I took delight in deleting all of those checks from "Notifications!" I also relished and became warm when I viewed all of those "hot hunks" who grace the new page of which you just recently joined. I think it's called "Hard On!" What hunkiness and virility and all of that steamy testosterone!

Facebook privacy

I just started using FB about a year ago. This article was helpful in explaining a number of ways to protect your privacy and security when you use the site.

Facebook has made some updates since this article was published, so there may be some navigating around in order to skin the various cats mentioned in the article. And some of the ideas are kind of dumb, like turning off all access to your wall. Kind of defeats the purpose. But if you're an internet scaredy-cat like I am there might be some stuff worth looking at.
