Yes! There will be flames of Wagnerian proportions… and just to get the preliminaries started I’m in the Callas camp...

LMAO whipped guy because listening to some Callas recordings is as painful as anything you might have seen or experienced at the NY Bondage Club. There are others, however, that are wonderful.

Already fanning the flames!

Well... I am a masochist so I guess it all fits... However, the whipped one has a softer side as well, so I am also in the Sutherland and Caballè camps. However, before you place me in the geriatric camp I don't go back as far as Adelina Patti, Galli Curcci, Tetrazzini (though her chicken dish is a favorite), or even Pons. However, I am certain that a few of the more flamboyant ones on this site certainly do and will defend their idols!

Loge! Loge Heiher!

Wer meines Speeres

Spitze furchet,

Durchscheite dans Feuer nie!

Loge! Loge! Come here!

Those who fear the tip of my spear

shall never pass through the fire.

Yes! The flames will be of Wagnerian proportions and loving it already!

Protests and Defense of a Transgender Comedy at Tribeca Festival

By DAVE ITZKOFF

A film selected for the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival called “Ticked-Off Trannies With Knives” hasn’t been screened there yet, but it’s already had that very effect on members of the transgender community and their supporters, prompting an advocacy group to call for the film’s removal from the festival lineup as well as a rapid defense from its creators and festival organizers.

In the official online listing for “Ticked-Off Trannies,” a comedy by Israel Luna that is making its world premiere at the Tribeca festival, the film is described as a “campy homage to the exploitation films” in which “a group of transgender women are violently beaten and left for dead,” but then “the violated vixens turn deadly divas.”

That summary alone was enough to prompt many angry comments at the tribecafilm.com Web site. One commenter who gave her name as Marie wrote, “This movie trivializes people dying for being who they are. You need to consider whether you want to be remembered for such transphobic trash.” Another commenter named Margaret B wrote, “I can’t imagine a more offensive film to denigrate and demean a minority group. Please remove this film from your line up.”

The new forum is open for business. You can find it right under the Strip Club Forum. I did learn over the weekend that Cooper had been angling for this forum behind the scenes even before we did, so credit is due Cooper for his efforts to get the ball rolling.

Callas has her place... but for true BEAUTY -- I must confess a total allegiance to Tebaldi -- (as I write this I genuflect, and bow my head) -- when she was young and on, I dont think there is anything more beautiful... but I am sure the discussion will commence shortly...
