I have really enjoy while reading wiki's explanation about male escort services and male prostitution. I totally disagree this article in wiki. here is the link

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Male_prostitution

I found another one by someone called Jimi Mikes and this is a passage from it I like it.

" The biggest misconception that people have is that male prostitutes and male escorts are the same. However, there is a fine line between them and a few differences do exist. A male prostitute will specifically offer sexual services for money. However, an escort will offer his time for the fees that he will charge. In several cases erotic and sexual services might be included but more often than not the client will simply want to spend time in the company of an attractive man or might even be looking for a companion for a social event. Male escorts are quite socially presentable and discreet which makes them the ideal companions."

And so Guys, where goes your vote for Wiki or for Jimi?

Legalistic crapola crafted in the hope of escaping prosecution. We hire in order to fuck, or get fucked, or both.

"more often than not the client will simply want to spend time in the company of an attractive man or might even be looking for a companion for a social event." What unutterable bullshit. I have never hired anyone without the expectation of sex. Has anyone here?

That is far from saying that genuine emotional connections -- even ongoing, deepening & life-altering relationships -- cannot spring from these hookups. Such has been reported here, by me and others.

But please.

As someone who has never hired b4 I tend too look at it as how one handles ones business. Escorts know it’s a business and they never lose sight of that. Escorts show up on time, answer the phone with proper etiquette, Answer emails in a reasonable time frame also with proper etiquette. Escorts are about the clients pleasure and not their own. Escorts Don’t pnp hookers sometimes do, escorts always use protection hookers sometimes don’t, Escorts get tested for stds regularly hookers sometimes don’t. A escort practices good hygiene a hooker sometimes doesn’t. Now for the clients. A client remembers it’s a business, A client practices proper hygiene a john not as much. A client uses proper email and phone etiquette not always the case with a john. Client shows up on time. A clients respects the escorts as human beings not just something they bought for an hour…A client doesn’t whine or try to nickel and dime the escorts rates down, unless we are talking days or extended hours. And so on and so on..

My old English teacher would give you a C- for composition but an A- for content. :) She never gave "A"s.

Good post.

When Rod Hagen states:

In the early stages many escorts are defensive about the distinction.

I know I was.

10 years later, call me what you like.

I could easily exchange the word escorts for clients. Now “nearly” 10 after I hired my first escort, I can also readily say “call me what you like”. I could and would readily list the various names you might call me BUT Daddy wouldn’t approve. We've been down that road before.

I’m convinced the whole issue boils down to just how comfortable we are in our own skins. I love hiring beautiful, well built MEN and I’ve matured to the point that I don’t give a shit what anybody else thinks about it.

Josephga please DO NOT consider what I am about to say a value judgment or a criticism. It is simply an observation. I find it absolutely fascinating that you have come up with these rather detailed definitions of what you consider escorts and hustlers yet have NEVER hired an escort.

I have found that when discussing “escorts,” and that is the term I use for all the guys I hire, all encompassing definitions are dangerous. There is very little black and white in the world of escorts there is just one hell of a lot of gray.

I guess I view it in the same way I would have viewed my massage business of 10 years. massage therapist vrs bodyworker. There is a difference between those 2 just as I feel there's A difference between a escort and a hooker. Even though I never escorted I did offer sensual massage and I feel that is apart of adult entertainment. Most of those comments I would apply too any business.

Agreed and I've started edits to bring the article more inline with reality. However, We also have some work to do. The term "Male Escort" redirects to "Male Prostitute". We need to turn that into an article with our point of view. I'll start a new thread.

I think the article has male escorts for Female clients in mind, more than for gay clients. It may be that females are often more interested in an escort to a concert or other function, than sex. I don't think either is very common.

For gay clients, any social function is more likely to be just a prelude to the sex. While of course, escorts for sex are prostitutes, it is a rude and unkind word.

The word "hustler", I would reserve for the guys who just want to get the money and run. He will promise anything with little or no intention of performing, and would probably steal anything of value given a change. I have hired a few such guys and the distinction is clear in my mind. Most escorts, in my experience, are not like that and most are nice guys.

kinda off the topic but aren't the majority of the clients married guys and not openly gay clients

I suspect not. There are probably some married clients but the majority of clients are openly gay.

Based on reading responses on this board, it seems clear that the majority of clients are not married.

Very thoughtful analysis of the article. I agree with your other comment concerning most "escorts" being nice guys.

Reason I asked back when i was working as a massage therapist the majority of the openly gay clients bought therapeutic only sessions. id say 90%. where the numbers were completely opposite with sensual massages. 90% of those were purchased by married guys who would never buy a massage unless a release was involved.. I was curious if the escort client base was similar

My guess it that guys who hire escorts fit into three general categories. 1.) married gay guys, 2.) openly older gay guys, and 3.) closeted older gay guys. I would also venture that the first group is the smallest and that the second two groups are about of equal size.

Hot young out gay studs are most likely NOT hiring escorts. First most don’t have sufficient discretionary funds to do so. And second they don’t need to do so, they can find all the hookups they seek in the standard gay hangouts.

Now the guys who make up groups two and three are not likely to pickup the type of guys they are seeking in the standard gay hangouts – they (we) are simply too old to succeed in playing that game. I fit into group three and speaking solely for myself, companionship is definitely NOT my major reason for hiring an escort. For companionship I have my family and my friends. Sure I always hire for about three hours including lunch or dinner. The first hour spent sharing a meal is simply a get acquainted period which, at least for me, enhances, my principal reason for hiring, the sexual romp that follows. I hire escorts because I love playing around sexually with a hot "younger" MAN with a body to die who knows exactly what he is doing in bed with another MAN

I, too, seek championship but mostly I seek companionship. I do not mean to pick on you but is your spell checker and "sense" checker inop?

It DOES matter.

I am definitely in category two: I am "openly older."
