Friends

I hope I dont sound stupid or old, but I think I am going to with the question that follows.

Someone has asked me to be "friends" here and I do not really understand the purpose of it. I did accept one a while back because I have actually met the person and we are friends. So is there a functional purpose to this thing or am I just missing something?

 

I do not do facebook, linked or twitter and have zero reason to do so. So if there is an actual purpose to it I will do so, however, the other piece of this is I do not wish to offend the other person but I am not a joining sort of person. When I have in my earlier years I found most of the people did so for a reason to sound important, excuse to not be home and drink. None of these is of interest to me.

I actually talk with the 3 or 4 listed on mine. haven't talked with one in a while. I had my space for awhile but never used it. i found it strange people would have 200 and 3000 friends. I felt myspace and facebook was just a thing for who could collect the most names on a friend list and I wasn't interested. I do have allot of names on facebook but they are people that i play farmville with lol

Becoming a "friend" here does not obligate you to do anything (OK, I do take care of Lucky's dogs whenever he travels, but it's not a requirement). I think a request to be your "friend" simply means that the supplicant likes your posts and doesn't plan to attack you onsite.

I agree with Charlie. An invitation to be someone's MC friend is probably intended as a compliment--they enjoy reading your posts and are just extending a "hand" of friendship...Or maybe they think you're really cute and sexy, Bart.

OK its a little more than that for me. My friends list on here is a list of the people I pm at least every so often. While I often email and instant message every so often a quick note on the pm is nice. With my friends list. I have quick access to send them a note without searching around too much.

 

Also I like to LOL and see what they posted on so I can reply. So I often ask people whose posts I enjoy. Actually Bart. You should be getting a request from me
