"Hallelujah the Hills" was a small budget independent film by Adolfas Mekas that came out in 1963. It was an off beat comedy about two buddies trying to get over their infatuation with the same woman.

In the age of innocence: before the Beatles, Vietnam or the liberation struggles, in the months before Camelot ended so brutally in November 1963, my college roommate and I fled campus for a wild weekend in New York. He was a movie nut and at his strong urging we caught this movie at a small theater in Greenwich Village. We both loved it.

Now nearly 50 years later, through various marriages, my coming out etc. we remain close friends. I had no siblings and this guy has really been the closest thing I’ve had to a brother.

For years I’ve tried to find a copy of "Hallelujah the Hills" to give him. Now my search has become frantic. Our birthdays are weeks apart in late spring; and, although we live hundreds of miles apart, we and our loved ones have celebrated them together for the last several years. But a month ago he was diagnosed with a painful form of cancer that has already metastasized into his bones. So this may be our last celebration together.

So I’m appealing to the widest community to which I have access for help in learning how to get a copy of "Hallelujah the Hills". It would be symbolic of the incalculable joy his friendship has given me.

Thanks.
