Olympic Pairs

I just watched Shen and Zhao - pairs figure skating team - also husband and wife - what an incredible short program they just performed!

 

I was just thinking, you know . . . in tennis . . when it's a "doubles" match, it's a pair of guys playing against another pair of guys, or a pair of girls playing against another pair of girls . . and in "mixed doubles" it's a guy and girl team playing against another guy and girl team.

 

How about we have the same in pairs skating? Right now, all we have is mixed pairs - guy & girl. I think it would be interesting if we had men's pairs (two guys) and women's pairs (two girls) in figure skating competition.

 

We have them in tennis - so why not figure skating?

 

p.s. Also, I'm kinda disappointed that, like "drag" racing, the Bi-athalon is a bit of a misnomer . . . just kidding.
