Apolo Ohno, winning a medal in short track speed skating, tied Bonnie Blair for 6 medals, the greatest number of medals won by an American winter olympian. But how he won it is what's really exciting. Catch this video if you didn't see the event live. It's unbelievable! Besides, Apolo is also really cute.

Note: If you don't have Microsoft Silverlight, you will be asked to download it to view videos on nbcolympics.com. It installs very fast and is perfectly safe.

I have Microsoft Silverlight and still could not see the video. I got a notice that the video was not loading properly- it was temporary-give them a minute- but a minute didn't help. So Ono still hasn't won until I see it!

nbcolympics.com is a big bucket of FAIL. It was FAIL for Beijing and they've added more FAIL to it this time around.

They even added an iPhone app for it, and it's a bucket of FAIL too.

(Sorry for the technical language. ;))

have tried to watch a couple of these nbcolympics.com videos, also, and never get anything....no request to DL this Silverlight thing, nothing....just that circle thing constantly rotating as if it's buffering....

is this what the others are experiencing?.....

would like to see that Ohno finish...I'll find it somewhere else, I suppose....

The NBC Olympics website is no better for loading the video. They do have a contact us feature, so I suggest that everyone write to them to complain, and then they may fix it.

Works Perfectly

Sorry you guys are having troubles. It works perfectly for me. I downloaded Silverlight easily and quickly, and suddenly a vast archives of NBC videos are available.

I watched Apolo Ohno's race, commentary on Sven Kramer, Dan Jansen's remarks, then I looked at figure skating. Very long good interveiw with Meryl Davis and Charles White. All their performances at Nationals - Compulsory (very beautiful waltz), OD / Original Dance / Indian Folk Music, Phantom - free dance. Wonderful commentary with Sandra Bezic and Scott Hamilton. No Dick Button in sight or hearing - GREAT! Unfortunately, Tracy Wilson, who used to be a good skater and commentator has now become a Neo-Buttonite and is dreadful. Shaun White's latest tricks, etc. etc.

It's a wonderful site and saves so much time watching tv. And for me, at least, it works perfectly. Hope you can get it to work for you.

....i love his thick strong leds and his lean upper muscle......and his hair and teeth are nice too..a pleasure to look at....thanks for the post

Hey, he's a speed skater, not a horse! :)

His teammate, who won the Bronze, ain't too shabby either. :)

Apolo Ohno . . . J. R. Celski

Thanks for the link! Great interview afterward too.

(worked fine on Mac/Safari - no need for Silverlight - just click 'n' watch)

Celski is pretty cute! I felt a bit sorry for him, with all the attention to Ohno, but he held his own.

It works fine in Internet Explorer and some other browsers.

It does not work AT ALL in Firefox.

MSFT and NBC #FAIL.

I had a good picture that was totally stable using Internet Explorer 7.

I'm sorry that some of you had problems with the video. I doubt NBC is allowing any of the videos on Youtube.com.

I found it interesting that most of the comments have to with the physical attributes of Apolo (and J.R.) Guys, I really like both Apolo and J.R., but how many actually watched the entire race, including the amazing finish? I don't recall seeing any comments on the race itself by those who could watch the video. Oh well. Guess I just have to remind myself it's a meat market site, not a sport's site.

I just tested the video again, and it came right up and played fine. I guess there's an incompatibility with certain browsers.

well, dammit, still can't get this Ohno surprise finish vid to open....

I usually use Firefox, but downloaded IE8 for this, which evidently included Silverlight automatically....

I open up the nbcolympics.com website for this particular vid, it starts encouragingly, then it just quits and is blank, with "done" noted at the bottom....

I did write a comment to nbcolympics.com support yesterday and their response was to enable third-party cookies, with a check they offered showing I'd already done that.....

I have a PC using XP Home.....

any ideas??.....thanks

Do you have the latest Flash player? Flash enabled?

For all the MS/NBC bullshit about Silverlight it's a Flash video.

It wasn't THAT big of a surprise.

Ohno and Celski were seconds away from finishing 4th and 5th when two Korean skaters wiped out leaving Ohno and Celski surprised to win silver and bronze.

NBCOlympics responded to my complaint. They didn't mention third party cookies, they just said that we should use the ContactUS button to complain as that is the only way the problem will be noted. There is a form that comes up.

I also tried Internet Explorer with no luck. I re-loaded Microsoft Silverlight with no improvement.

Hopefully we aren't the only people complaining to NBC.

No problem here. When I first clicked onto the link a popup offered me a free Silverlight download, I clicked my way through that, sat through a 15 second commercial (was that the price of the Silverlight download?), hit f5 to enable Silverlight, and then the video kicked off w/o hitch.

I connected and watched this video the night this thread started, but pretty late at night west coast time, 11:30 or so. I use the latest FireFox and had no problems (I already have Silverlight installed as well, but no idea if it was used or not). I just tried now and cannot get any video. Looks promising, but then just a blank and a "Your video will start soon" message.

So I think it is not a browser problem, but rather at the source end. NBC Piece O'Crap, to use another technical term. Right now is probably near the peak demand on the west coast, so I am going to try again late at night.

Yep, sure enough. Around 10:45 PST I clicked on the same video, runs fine. No changes to any software on my end. So, my guess is that it's somewhere upstream and most likely nbcolympic.com can't handle the demand.
