Ever since I started participating in this forum there were a few who thought my views about escorting were a little on the romantic side. There were a few who even suggested that out of a sense of shame and guilt I was trying to make escorting look more acceptable or more meaningful than it is.

 

After a few years of escorting my personal view of my profession hasn't changed at all; if anything I have become more certain that -at least for me, this is the absolute truth.

 

I believe that there are a few professions and occupations in which the pressure is so strong, the demands are so high and the focus needed to excel in them is so big, that only people with a huge amount of determination, commitment and passion will be able to engage in them and turn them into a fulfilling livelihood.

 

Examples of this type of profession would be acting, teaching, nursing, to name a few. Many people try them for the right and the wrong reasons. Many people believe that they will be able to do well in them with a little bit of work, but it turns out that only a few are able not only to succeed in them, but to turn them into a fulfilling, exciting pursuit. It's obvious to me that only someone who is excited about his profession is able to find the way to practice it every day with passion, focus, integrity and a professional approach.

 

I believe that the only thing that is needed to excel in those professions, as well as in escorting is a very strong vocation.

 

I have found that the the great escorts with whom I have ever worked always wanted to be, always fantasized, always knew that in one way or another would be trying escorting. All these guys have had one thing in common: they found the profession fascinating, they found escorts and escorting exciting and alluring and hot. They got turned on about the idea of a young, (sometimes not so young), beautiful (sometimes not so beautiful), sexually articulate and giving man sharing his expertise, focus, body and mind with a client.

 

Beauty, youth, musculature, endowment, languages, general knowledge of current events, all these things can be helpful, but none of those are so important that a guy cannot have an amazing career without them.

Only give it a chance if you think you always wanted to do this. If you lack this important ingredient, you may be incredibly beautiful, connected, young, hung, even talented, but you will never reach any level of accomplishment or fulfillment in it.

 

If you, however always wanted to be an escort, come on and jump in the wagon. We are in sore need of passionate people to make this profession the respectable and beautiful career that it should be.

i agree with Juan Vancouver that guys should not go into this for the "big bucks." when i teach about escorting, i tell people they should not go into this if it's just for the money. it's ironic because many people do think of entering escorting as a "last resort" when they are so desperate for cash.

 

to succeed at this, i think someone must have at least several - but not necessarily all - of the other qualities that you guys listed here. one guy may be totally charming, but not particularly intelligent - and his charm and sexiness alone could carry him along. another may know how to fuck really well, and be friendly enough, but lack sophistication, be ignorant of world events, and (gasp!) hate rimming. he can still do well. i wonder if it's not just the individual elements that a guy brings to the table, and how he combines them, that make him seem like a great escort? of course, clients who hire have various likes, too. the man who lives with his wife on one side of main street may find the "perfect escort" to be one dude, while the single gay guy who lives on the other side of main street may go for an entirely different kind of man. it's a big world out there, right?

Juan, I think you've said something important. Teaching, nursing, and escorting (wouldn't society have a fit at that triad) are all "giving" professions, often on a very personal level. Because of that I would add that an aspiring escort needs to have a strong sense of self so that he can give generously but still has enough of his private self left that the profession doesn't feel as if it is taking everything.
