I'm confused with all this internet stuff

Wish I could figure it all out! I'm here on the east coast. . . and still at past midnight no reviews for today. I respect HB's time off (or under the sheets) But all too often only a part of the reviews load, the remainder to follow later in the day. The escorts name appears in the column with the number of reviews and an icon for pic, but then clicking in the review is a crap shoot. Many times the latest review does not appear. As for the pics, sometimes they are there, sometimes not. (Does HB need a cute young secretary/assistant at his side?) One of the most inconsistant is NYO's weekly Gaiety shakedown. I never try to read it until Tuesday at least.

Just Me. . . . or any others experiencing this?

You may be getting bit by your browser's cache settings.

 

When you visit a web page for a second (or more) time, your browser looks to see if it has a recent version of that page in the cache and may just show you the cached version depending on your settings.

 

MS Internet Explorerer has four settings for this:

 

* Download completely new every time you visit the page

* Download new every time Internet Explorer is started

* Automatically

* Never

 

The default setting is the cryptic "Automatically". I've never seen an explanation of what "automatically" means that doesn't equate to "whenever I feel like it".

 

I often need to force a refresh when set to "Automatically" (particularly in the Message Center, and that fucks up other things too.)

 

Obviously the first choice will always get you the full and most current information but it will also seriously slow down your browsing experience.

That could be one of two (or a combination of both) things. You're attempting to download while he's in mid-upload. Or Your browser's cache is set to "automatic" and it's splitting the difference.

I'm pretty sure that's cache-related.

 

Others have reported EXACTLY this problem and when they dump their cache, they suddenly see the new information.

 

To change your cache settings in IE, go to Tools->Internet Options and click the buttton "Settings" under "Temporary Internet Files". Choose the cache option (from the four I listed) that makes the most sense for YOU.

One other thing I forgot to mention. HooBoy TRIES to update this site every nite by midnite EST.

 

He doesn't always make it. Sometimes he ends up in a hotel with "high speed internet access" that is anything but. Somethines he's stuck in airline hell, and trying to upload from a 28.8 modem in an airport lounge.

 

Your best bet is to leave it for the next morning. And even then, sometimes he's late (and grumpy as hell about it!).

This is not a complaint.......

 

just an observation It is Sat, Jul 6th, 2:00 pm on the west coast, 5:00 pm on the east coast and the most recent reviews I can find are for Thursday July 4th. Something is amiss - and it ain't my cache!

Hey Buns, Butt here. I agree something ain't working. The last reviews I see are Thursday. I tried to do everything Deej suggested but couldn't find any of the categories. Is it because of my Mac/AOL combo? (God, I cant wait to hear the jeers!) Just hard to believe there isn't a major uproar that all us HB fans haven't seen a review since Thursday. BTW. . . message center, loud and clear, not always lucid, but functioning.

Guys, Hoo hasn't been heard from in a couple of days.

 

I suspect he's in the clutches of the airlines. (Just think of the food he's stuck with!)

 

At least I'm *hoping* he's stuck in an airport somewhere and not in an emergency room somewhere!

All kidding aside and Hooboy can take as much time off as he wants, but don't you moderator types have a reliable way of contacting him?

 

Granted this only comes up because HB is so amazingly reliable but if something happened to him it would be nice if someone had a way to find that out.

 

Of course, I hope he is enjoying some quality time off and we will hear from him soon enough.

Actually, this site (or e-mail) is the most reliable way to contact him.

 

If he misses tonite's upload as well, I'll probably call just to make sure everything is OK, but even then I'll probably just get voicemail if he's flying somewhere.

 

He *may* have simply decided to extend his stay in P-town because he was having so much fun. I dunno.

 

In any case, "Hoo Watch" won't start until tomorrow.
