Hello Jennifer Hudson!

Fantastic. Surprised to see that so many of the You Tube comments were negative. Too many haters.

JH seems to have really slimmed down...or did this happen a while ago? And dare I say it - she is totally smokin' in that dress. But I've always found her incredibly attractive.

Right on. Almost makes me wish I was straight, because, you know, my being gay is the ONLY thing keeping me apart from Jennifer Hudson.

I updated the YouTube URLs above. They keep deleting various versions of this performance. But it is a must see performance. I think it will be on BET on Feb 14th in the evening.

The Bodyguard Song is a Dolly Parton song written by Dolly and first released by her and then Whitney did the definitive version which was a gigantic hit. This version is terrific and a nice change from Whitney's version without straying too far from the original.

Elvis wanted to record this song, too.

Elvis wanted to record I Will Always Love You after Dolly made it a country hit, but she ultimately said "no" to Elvis. Here's how Dolly explained it in a recent interview with CMT:

Parton: "I hesitated to tell it for a long time because I thought maybe people would not take it right because it was Elvis. But Elvis loved "I Will Always Love You," and he wanted to record it. I got the word that he was going to record it, and I was so excited. I told everybody I knew, "Elvis is going to record my song. You're not going to believe who's recording my song." It's like one of those things I told everybody. They get to Nashville and they call and they ask if I want to come to the session -- and, of course, I was going to go.

Then Colonel Tom [Parker, Presley's manager] gets on the phone and said, "You know, I really love this song," and I said, "You cannot imagine how excited I am about this. This is the greatest thing that's ever happened to me as a songwriter." He said, "Now you know we have a rule that Elvis don't record anything that we don't take half the publishing." And I was really quiet. I said, "Well, now it's already been a hit. I wrote it and I've already published it. And this is the stuff I'm leaving for my family when I'm dead and gone. That money goes in for stuff for my brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews, so I can't give up half the publishing." And he said, "Well then, we can't record it." I guess they thought since they already had it prepared and already had it ready, that I would do it.

I said, "I'm really sorry," and I cried all night. I mean, it was like the worst thing. You know, it's like, "Oh, my God ... Elvis Presley." And other people were saying, "You're nuts. It's Elvis Presley. I mean, hell, I'd give him all of it." I said, "I can't do that. Something in my heart says, 'Don't do that.'" And I just didn't do it, and they just didn't do it. But I always wondered what it would sound like. I know he'd kill it. Don't you? He would have killed it. But anyway, so he didn't. Then when Whitney [Houston's version] came out, I made enough money to buy Graceland." (she laughs)

She looks darn good in the purple and looked great at The Grammys. I love her new look and her voice: always! ...have no desire to get with her sexually. I like women but I don't like them sexually; I'm a complete virgin in this department which I think is definitely all right!!!

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it Duchess. I love Dolly! She is so authentic and candid. She openly and gladly embraces her many gay fans, too--something many other country singers are reticent to do.

Thanks for sharing the Dolly story. I had the great, ableit unrealized at the time, privelege of being around her on a few occaisions growing up. Although I aware of her being dressed and "made up," I was always touched by how warm and honest she was in her communication. She was idolized by my dad and always a giving and funny lady. Thanks for allowing me the memory.

People often forget, too, that Dolly sang the song in the movie "Best Little *****house in Texas".

The song has been around the block a bit.

Actually I remember the song from Dolly singing it in Best Little *****house in Texas A good enough movie although the stageshow was better IMHO.

No, just typing at the same time.

I remember the score crossing my desk and I observed the lyrics:

It's just a little bitty, piss-ant country place,

Ain't nothing too high toned.

There's lots of good will, and maybe one small thrill,

but there's nothing dirty going on!

I really looked forward to the movie! But I agree it wasn't as good as it should have been.

I still think more fitting for hooville is :

We get simple farmers, local business men

Congress folks from Austin, young boys looking for sin

Now we used to get a lot of rough necks, when the oil boom was high

But pay day would get a little rowdy, thank God the field ran dry .

Thanks for reminding me deej I loved that show.

The only scene in "*****house" that really stuck with me was the one with all those Aggies dancing butt nekkid in the locker room. Well that and the two stepping Texas governor.

[best in high def ;)]

Jennifer Hudson's new look is glamorous and elegant. Her star-power continues to skyrocket. She joined Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett and many other music A-listers this week to re-make "We Are The World" to benefit Earthquake relief efforts for Haiti. Good for her.
