When I was in town I had a great dinner at O-Bar (reserve on opentable.com). The short rib was DELICIOUS! Its a few minutes down from the Ramada.

Obar is good and fun. Basix is close and right next to Obar. I like to go to Obar for happy hour and have dinner at Basix. They're both on Santa Monica Blvd east of the hotel on the north side of the street. Right across the street is Benvenuto. It's always been one of my favorites.

You mentioned a GOOD place. I would suggest Dan Tana's which is west of the hotel and probably best to drive. Its next to the Troubadour.

What about The Abbey? I've had dinner there a few times, even when it gets packed on a weekend evening. Pretty good! The owner invited a few of us Fire Prevention Inspectors (when I used to work in that office) over in the morning for breakfast before a big event that evening, and that was even good.

It's been a while since I've been there, but I've always enjoyed the food and the vibe of Cafe D'etoile @ 8941 Santa Monica Blvd. (310-278-1011)

 

It's a pleasant walk from the Ramada....west along Santa Monica Blvd, between North San Vicente Blvd and North Robertson Blvd.

Deej I haven't gone yet but I think it will be O-Bar. It is an easy walk from the Ramada and I am a push over for short ribs.
