Hey guys.

What's your favorite place in NY to get a great ribeye and some crispy fries to go with it, and, of course, a nice red wine?

Thanks for any recommendations.

Mmmmm, a nice ribeye (my favorite cut) sounds really good right now. Maybe I should head out to dinner a little early tonight . . .

I'm not a big fan of the restaurant because it's so noisy, but a few months ago at Del Frisco's on Sixth Avenue I had a Kobe bone-in ribeye that was the most delicious steak that I've ever eaten. My favorite steak place in NY, though, is BLT Steak on East 57th Street, which has a bit of French flair that distinguishes it from the usual suspects in the NY steak house scene. A great wine list, too, with terrific choices at different price points.

Hi jeepman,

New York City has some great local steak houses, that are becoming a thing of the past as the city is still going strong in its 'disneyfication' and gentrification pursuits.

The wonderful thing is that locals are fighting back...Bloomberg and staff have a program implemented supporting 'Mom & Pop' businesses. Time will tell how successful the endeavor is.

Such a place is:

Donohues Steak House

845 Lexington Avenue

New York, NY 10065-6611

(212) 744-0938

You can get a pretty damn good steak there :)

If you are looking for a great steak with some sexy added to your dining...go to:

Happy Hunting!

P.S

Cooper is spot on about Peter Luger's...however.....bring cash as they have a no credit card policy...and...sometimes the servers are not the friendliest bunch...however...just smile at them and their cold hearts tend to warm up!

THE Best

Without a doubt my favorite NYC Steakhouse is DEL FRISCO'S on Sixth Avenue at 49th St.

http://www.delfriscos.com/

They have many locations throughout the USA.

There are no lack of steakhouses in Manhattan. Uncle Jack's on Ninth Avenue and 36th St is very popular, as is Moran's on Tenth Avenue and 19th St. Of course, The Palm on Second Avenue and 45th St (and other NYC locations on the West Side and Tribeca) is a world class steakhouse. Smith and Wollensky and The Old Homestead are also highly rated.

Enjoy!

Doe Be Doe Shaun -

What are Donohue's fries like: crispy or chewy?

Hi Doe Be Doe,

I have never had fries there because I always have a baked potato with LOTS of sour cream.

Sorry that I can not answer your question.

Brooklyn Guy should know...

Indubidably! ;)

BG aren't you the lucky restaurant connoisseur living so close to the finest steak house in NYC, and that's not just me saying it but the restaurant rating guide, "Zagat's" which ranked Peter Luger's #1 for the past 7 years.

As foxy mentioned, this is Restaurant Week in NYC. Many fine meals are being offered at reasonable prices. Foxy and I are thinking of going to the 21 Club and enjoying a special meal there. With all the talk about ribeye, maybe we'll give it a taste and report back.

Jeepman, when are you looking to dine out?

Coop.."Peter Luger Steak House" in Brooklyn as you know has survived all of the "Social" changes that have taken place in NYC since 1887!

For years it was in a Neighborhood alot would fear to tread in..Williamsburg! But the Steaks always drew the crowds from Manhattan over the Bridge even though the Menu was Never CHEAP nor the Older Wait Staff Friendly! :D

The "21" Club was always known for its Pricey Hamburgers $25 in days past now they are $30. But now apparently KOBE Beef is in at one Restaurant at a whopping $40 for a Hamburger!
