Talents...

And "right after" really is the key here. If you do it any sooner, nobody can understand what you're saying with a mouth full of cock.

Does that mean that both of you guys are so talented as to be able to work in tandem... if so, I can only imagine… or is Derek really the silent partner in more ways than one??

A gay dentist might be able to understand such a "thank you".

Actually any dentist worth his salt should be talented enough to decipher anything said with any type of "tool" in any person's mouth... and that includes something as innocuous as “Mister Thirsty” to the ghastly “Black & Decker”...

Well, let's put it this way...Derek is highly skilled at head work and I take care of the base. :p

People are always surprised to find when they meet us that he's actually the more verbal of the two of us. I do most of my communicating with the written word (if I could just figure out a way to text the dirty talk during sex, I'd be in heaven).

Either none of the responders are true cynics or they're keeping that quality in check. To a cynical eye, even the posting of the question is subject to a scrutiny for motive.

Tom, my serious point is that a cynical person can and will color everything with the hue of that particular crayon. When I read all the posts, though, I found very few responses that exhibited a strongly cynical bent. My 2 cents: You've got a good quote with the Nietzsche. If it's a true reflection of you, follow it.

Bart hit the nail on the head, I believe. The issue isn’t about thank you notes in particular, it’s about any escort expressions of gratitude and enjoyment in general, and how suspicion interferes with the ability to establish “connectedness” with clients. It is interesting, however, to see how widely people differ on thank you notes.

When an escort expresses that he had a great time, or thanks the client for a wonderful evening, or groans with pleasure in the middle of the session--is the escort “read” as sincere? Of course this is a highly subjective and situational thing. But I believe, after a few years in this business, that there is a tendency to read escorts as always pretending, always on stage, always acting, and always on the make for the next dollar. And I’ve known at least a few who fit that bill perfectly--but not all.

And there are some clients who evaluate escorts based on how well they can “give the appearance” of having “real desire” for the client. Such an approach, I believe, “builds into” the relationship an escort who is unknowable, duplicitous, and present only for the cash.

So what is behind client cynicism? The answers here seem to be:

The potential emotional involvement of the client in the situation and a defensive posture against that possibility.

The separation in age and attractiveness leading one to suspect the escort of “trolling for money.”

The question of sincerity--does the expression of gratitude seem to match with the escort’s actual behavior/experience during the session.

I suspect all of these are at play here. If one watches the way desire is policed in popular culture, the great sin is not exchanging cash for sex (that’s titillating, and virtually the definition of marriage). The great sin is having sex without desire. And desire is supposed to work in very particular ways, usually not across the generations, for instance. The real “*****” is not the prostitute, but the “slut” who will sleep with anyone. What gets discounted is not just the possibility of desire working across generations, but more importantly, I believe, the possibility of shared pleasure that is independent of desire. Just a thought...

Thanks g56wiz for the chuckle! I like my penis! But I don’t suspect I’m molding it out any time soon.

A thank you from a financial advisor or a dentist or a holiday card from any other professional--are these read with the same “hermeneutic of suspicion”?

Yes. It's a way to sustain and perhaps strengthen the relationship.

I don't get any of these thank you notes from my attorneys. I must be hard to work with. I will try to be nice. :)

Look as an attorney I send Thank you's to my clients who were particularly easy to work with.

Me neither. I think a jealous and possessive guard is intercepting them.

I must have a chat with the Warden.

Better bring two, just in case those briefs are tough! I'll be your associate - you know, the one that has to do all the leg work?

Wait wait with those hairy legs. I'll be your associate. TB your more partner material than me anyway. Unless we drag lucky in to play senior partner. Hmm that may be to many attorney's (nah think of the billable hours)

Thank you!

Hi everyone!

I have had the opportunity to meet Tom Isern.

On one of my first trips to New York City, Tom offered his hand in friendship should I have any questions about the city.

I have had the occasion to dine with him and stay at his home for a while as my other lodging in NYC was not available.

From what I observed about Tom...if he sent a thank you note to a client, then he REALLY meant it.

Tom is nothing less than honest and forthright.

I always thank my clients after a date, and that thank you comes from a place of sincerity.

There is no ulterior motive or hidden agenda.

Here is a challenge for everyone out there that receives a thank you note from someone.

No matter what aspect of your life it may come from...accept it...embrace it, and appreciate the fact that someone took the time to let you know.

They are powerful words of acknowledgement, and in this day and age a simple thank you can be few and far between.

So...Thank you!

HUGS

In my professional life, I receive thank you notes on occasion. Each one I receive is posted in my office in an area accessible by employees and only visible to clients if they really peer into an office area. The thank you notes are taken down after a bit but considering the large number of people with whom I deal and the tiny number of thank you cards I receive, these brief notes are affirmations that people do indeed appreciate efforts made for them.

So where is the wiseguy who will suggest that I receive a small number of thank you because the job being done is just not that good?

Perish the thought! :p No one here would be that rude. :D

The wish of your nature is to send a note. Unhapiness comes from acting against your nature. Good ractions will be many, bad ones no.
