Getting old I guess as I find myself looking to past New Year's Eves for fond memories. It used to be that it was a personal requirement to get laid on the night beginning the new year, now I am content to stay home, watch the ball drop in Times Square, and be in bed before midnight. Sad, huh?

As you may know, the escort scene in Palm Springs is dismal, so if I did want to have fun I would need to go to LA and hang out with Jackhammer and Oliver. They'll no doubt be having a blast.

But I do have good memories. One of my favorites, and, greatness, this is 30years ago, I was in a bar in Denver, where I had gone to visit a friend. I saw a hot blond guy and determined to be next to him when the clock struck 12 in the hopes of getting a midnight kiss. But time slipped away from me, so when the noise began I was caught off guard. I looked for the blond guy, and there he was, coming right at me! He had the same desire I did. We kissed pretty long and deep, then chatted for awhile. Turns out his boyfriend was working, so he was alone, but could not go with me. Still made for a good memory though.

It'd be nice to hear some of your favorite stories as well. You have to live vicariously in the desert!

hot story!

That is very hot story. I usually start my new year quietly reading a book and then I go to bed. I would watch the ball drop in Times Square. Last year, however, Katie Griffin was on CNN and did something terrible. She acted so irresponsibly and reminded me one of the reasons why we are in this crisis. I am just going to read my book this year. I hope she doesn't appear in my dream. Yikes.

The only time I ever went to Times Square on NYE was when I was 18 years old, and my best friend and I took dates. Unfortunately, we started at the Astor Bar (OK, this was a very long time ago), where I had my first martini, and then another, and I almost passed out, so I remember very little about the actual scene in the streets, other than that it was very cold.

Another memorable NYE occurred in my early 20s, when I visited a friend in San Diego, who took me to a big gay party held in a downtown hotel. There were many lesbian couples, the femmes in gowns and the butches often in tuxedoes; there were several fights among the butches. After midnight, my friend suggested that we go to see the Rose Bowl Parade, so we jumped in the car and drove to Pasadena, where we found a place to park near the parade route, and slept in the car for a few hours before it started. That was the only time I ever saw the parade in person.

Like Lucky, however, I used to think that NYE was not a success if I didn't get laid. One year in Philadelphia, I overdid it, having sex with eighteen different guys over the course of a three-day New Year's weekend. Nowadays, I think that the whole year is not a success unless I get laid at least once.
