This past Wednesday I attended the Imogen Heap concert at Webster Hall in NYC. The concert was great, overall. Started the performance watching from the balcony and then headed down to the floor (general admission: standing) to watch the rest of the show. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a very good spot but still enjoyed everything and Webster Hall being a relatively small venue, everyone had good spots.

The only regret I have with this performance is that I got bored with a couple songs so stopped recording...and then she started a song I didn't recognize (The Walk)...before I knew it, I was in love with the song and forgot to start recording until the very end (a 5 minute long song). I found the song on youtube...but, even still good, it doesn't compete with the experience I had listening to the song for the first time live. The balance in the music between her voice and how she sang certain parts was much better than the studio version. The song I found on youtube was recorded at the same performance by another attendee...he got a few other good songs recorded, but the quality of the recording device did not capture the base.

I've included links to Speeding Cars, one of the encore pieces she performed very well as well as to the song I heard for the first time and enjoyed.

- shows her vocalization during the performance but loses bass.

- cleaner, with base, but her vocalization isn't as loud at the end.

Thanks Leo

When I comes to music I love i get so stuck on a few select artists and rarely branch out I was so in love with her song "come here boy" back in the late 90's

this is from 2006 you probably have seen it

kind of fell away from listening to her.

she did a tour with Zoe Keating whom I love the live version of speeding cars

again fallen away from listening to her also

was very nice to spend some time on youtube watching and listening to some very cool songs

I tend to go to live performances rather than studio recorded ones on you tube its so much more raw and interesting

Thanks again great stuff :)

I guess Rosie O'Donnell was there that night. She loves this artist and had her on RosieRadio the next day on SiriusXM Stars. It was a great interview.

The Moment I said It

Imogen Heap has been on my radar for some time. I love the moment I said it and this youtube link with a homemade photo edit video is so well done. I watch it regularly. Ok a bit dark but who doesn't enjoy film noir.

I guess it shouldn't shock me that she's been around a while but for some reason I felt like she was a bit newer than that. What's also shocking me is that I hadn't fully researched her ever enough to realize she's been around for 10 years. Back in the late 1990's...I was attending a private boarding academy and nearly completely removed from public information. I didn't leave the church until circa 2004. A few years ago, while together, my ex spent a while catching me up on all the Disney movies I missed. Still catching up on quite a few other things, lol.

Come Here Boy is one of my favorites from her...including Goodnight & Go, Hide & Seek, Hear Me Out and her covers of Hallelujah and I Need A Hero.

There's an experience to seeing someone perform live.

There was a VIP section...so she must have been up there. There was also another performance on Thursday night. In the Wednesday performance, after one of the songs...Imogen spoke with her manager on stage via headset and then announced to the audience that she was just informed that she had been nominated for 2 Grammy Awards. She wasn't sure for what, if I remember correctly she joked, "For what, best dressed?"

Thank you Leo. There is something about live performances that just bring out an ethereal quality to the music. especially a song like this one.
