I think the answers will also depend on location. I happen to live in an area where the local selection is somewhat limited and most of the visiting escorts are complete unknowns. I've found a semi-regular guy (who no longer advertises); his rates are very reasonable (as someone mentioned, reputable visiting guys tend to be more expensive than the locals (in my location, at least) and *may care less about pleasing if they think they'll never see you again.

This past year, 2 well-known & respected guys came to town (Romann & Sean Knight) and I took advantage of the opportunities. But generally I've hired locally because, unless there's an established reputation, I'm more wary of the visiting guys who may have no real interest in cultivating repeat clients.

There's a big selection of locals here. There's never been an escort I've felt was a "must-see". So, it's much easier (for me) to establish a relationship with a local rather than any visitor.

Regardless of how "close by" local guys do maybe provide that for sure.

 

That being said I like visiting guys at times. Keeps the budget in check at times. I know that if some of the guys I have been with were closer by - I would be in trouble. LOL At least with them visiting, or my visiting I can budget myself.

I have met some really nice men who travel into the NYC area. Since NYC is a popular destination for many escorts, I have found that even though they are travelling into the area, there has not been a problem in setting up dates.
