I could have sworn that he had written another autobiography, and people were shocked at the negative attitude he had towards his clients ... and I'm fairly certain that it was him,

because of being a-friend-of-a-friend-of-a-friend. For a while he dated another san francisco former person-of-porn, who trades massages on a regular basis with my penultimate ex.

I haven't read Sordid Truths yet, but I've read all of Aiden's other published works. I know Aiden and many of the people and places he writes about. In addition to 2 novels and a book of poetry, Aiden wrote a memoir entitled My Undoing covering an 8 year period when he was in the thick of his porn career. Sordid Truths is a prequel to that book, covering the years when Aiden started escorting while in college, and progressing through to his early porn days.

I just read "Sordid Truths". It's the pre-quel to "My Undoing" and covers the years before his porn stardom, when he was working as a call boy in London. It is very well written and engaging. Well, it's particularly engaging if you're interested in man-to-man sex, which is most of what it recounts. But Shaw has some interesting reflections about his lifestyle as well, and his eye is quite keen as an observer of his own exploits.

I enjoyed the book and have just sent to Amazon for a copy of My Undoing to find out what happens next. Shaw is frank about his clients ("punters" he calls them) but sometimes affectionate as well. He is no more sentimental about his real loves who seem to pass by just as quickly as his customers.

All in all he is unapologetic, which is refreshing, at that same time as being rather sad. Since he has lived most of his life as a very handsome, very sexually attractive man, I'm sure advancing age is particularly high hurdle for him. But he seems courageous and self-aware.

It makes me want to contact him as an escort, but I don't really want to pay his price just to discuss the book. So I won't. But I DO recommend reading it for those of you who are interested in escorting or gay porn life.

I made the mistake of hiring him many years ago. He was one of the biggest assholes I've ever met. It's sad that he's still ripping people off. He couldn't even be nice. He looks like he's in his 60s now. Probably too many amphetamines--or is it all just bad genetics?

As I have said many times on this board, Aiden Shaw is without a doubt the WORST escort experience that I have had in all these many years.... arrogant, duplicitous and like Unicorn said, a complete and total asshole and rip off.

 

Lots of warning signs to affirm that and I chose to ignore them all. So, I accept a lot of the blame and just hope that others out there won't make the same mistake that I did.

 

That being said, his books are a good read. I enjoyed them.... but his total contempt for his clients ( yeah, us poor pathetic "punters" that have to pay for it) fucking leaps off the page.

 

Just my 2 cents... no, it's more like my $1500 plus airfare and dinner and WAY too many drinks... (and for me to bitch about too much booze... you KNOW it was bad)

 

But then again, he's not "an escort".... that's why his rates were.... "What's it worth to you to meet me?" and in follow up, "Your first offer better be good.... otherwise, you are wasting my time..."

 

That was six years ago this coming Friday... the day after Thanksgiving 2003... younger, way dumber and before David...

 

I can't completely regret it... because if I hadn't met him and seen for myself what an unprofessional con he really is.... I would still be thinking about him and Marcus Irons in "Descent" and still trying to make it happen. Just as fucked up as it sounds, yes sir....

 

Lesson learned. The hard way... and no, by the way, he wasn't...

Sounds like he was marketing himself to a particular type of client: perhaps one who is somewhat masochistic or who gets turned on by very dominant escorts. Not to pry, but were you looking for that fantasy at the time you hired him? Or did you want to see if you could "tame" him? Or was he just too goodlooking to resist? None of the above?

 

Either one of those two responses would have been a clear signal that he and I wouldn't have a good time together, so I actually would have preferred hearing it that clearly up front and avoiding the expense and hassle.
