His voice is terrible. I've never watched American Idol, but if he was one of the best contestants, I certainly don't feel as if I've missed anything. And Kris Allen is quite a bit more handsome.

Just when I thought the music ind. couldn't get any worse. I was only able to watch a few seconds of this horrid performance. The voice alone makes my ears bleed. I think I will stick with my Koko Taylor, Reba, Etta James, Henry Rollins and such.

Hugs,

Greg

Whether you like his voice or not, you must admit that he is a showman. A thousand times better than those so-called rap artists who just come on stage a repeat the same damn words over and over again. You may not like Lambert but he is going to make a lot of money, honey.

Boy! The prudes and conservatives aren't going to like this!! I love it!!!

Well, I'm not a prude or a conservative and I hated it. You will find that the people who think that Adam Lambert is a pudgy, acne-scarred, make-up wearing, drag queen wannabe runs the gamut from far right to far left. Finding him a walking, living, breathing freak show is not limited to one or two groups. I find him embarassing. And I hear the same sounds each night when the raccoons start attacking my trash in Central Park.

Thankfully, I don't judge talent by how much money they make. By that standard Britney Spears is a genius. I don't think so.

Showman? PT Barnum was a showman. Adam Glambert is just enjoying his 15 minutes of freak show-like fame. 5 years from now no one will remember his name, not even the occasional trick he brings home to his rhinestone-encrusted trailer park.

Wow its hate him or love him, the claws really seem to come out over Lambert. I agree he is far from a musical genius but I do think he's a good showman. and I like someone who pushes an envelope. its about time. But for those of you who can't stand the shrill in his voice, I have no argument it can get grating, but I still seem to like him. Oh well, to each there own

The problem for Adam Lambert is that, although he's a "showman", people listen to songs, they don't watch them.

Ask yourself, how many people want to listen to song after song of some guy screaming? Rockers do that but very very very few of the rock customers are going to get within ten feet of his album. He's not pop, he's not rock, he's some weird amorphous hybrid that's a marketing nightmare.

Remember how everyone was over the moon about David Cook and what an AMAZING PERFORMER he was? Anybody here buy that album? Quick, name one of his singles! When's the last time you heard him on the radio? Have you ever even HEARD him on the radio? Seen one of his videos? Just because someone wins AI doesn't mean they'll have record sales.

Adam is going to have a modest spurt of sales the first week and then sales are going to drop like a stone. I've seen him interviewed and he seems like a really great guy but as a singer he's self-indulgent and self-indulgence just doesn't sell.

I liked Kris Allen alot but his album is also going to nowhere. Danny Gokey is going to be the real "winner" from that season. He's smartly chosen to go the country route and country listeners are going to eat up his first single "It's Only" and the second one "My Best Days Are Ahead Of Me". He's doing that inspirational Carrie Underwood thing which has proven to be a huge money maker.

Two years from now, Danny is going to be getting a CMA Award and Adam is going to follow in the footsteps of Taylor Hicks and be the second lead in some ghastly Broadway revival, filled with B List television stars.

Exactly. To each his own. But to hear "some" -- and I emphasize "some" -- of his fans tell it he's Judy, Elton, their favorite escort, Cher, and Perez Hilton all rolled into one. Please. He didn't even have the guts to come out during American Idol but waited until it was over for fear, I suppose, that he'd lose votes.

That's not the role model I want for young gay men. Not by a long shot. He might as well be a lesbian.

Actually that's not true. He always said he was gay if asked. He treats it as a non-issue and frankly that is where we should be in society but unfortunately we are not.

I find this thread and of course all of the discussion on radio and news this morning fascinating. I think he did what he wanted and that was to create a conversation. I applaud any entertainer who can do that in this day and age.

I do wish he had focused on the singing more than he did in this performance because the actual recorded song is so much better without all of the screeching.

I am disappointed that people use hateful words toward him versus trying to understand what he is trying to do first.

Danny who? Sorry, I couldn't resist. All I remember about him is his endless chatter about his dead wife. Enough of that already.

I liked Kris Allen. Nice voice, cuter than hell, but I wouldn't buy his record. I couldn't stand David Cook, just another rock wannabe. I liked David Archuleta. I bought his first CD. I thought it was very disappointing. Over produced, like so much pop music these days. He has a naturally beautiful and communicative voice but they didn't allow that to come through on the CD. I have his new Christmas CD but haven't played it yet (too early for that!).

As for Glambert, enough already. This guy has more than used up his 15 minutes of fame. I'd no more play his CD in my house than I'd want to listen to 50 minutes of Gunther Schuller in my living room.

That's too bad, because his CD is actually one of the most creative I've ever heard and there isn't the screeching like you heard in the performance last night.

Adam Lambert's response

Adam Lambert's sexually-charged performance of his latest single, For Your Entertainment, at the American Music Awards featured the American Idol alum simulating oral sex with a male dancer, making out with one of the band members and plenty of crotch grabbing so naturally he's the subject of controversy.

Glambert's response?

"You know honestly, if I offended some people… it's apples and oranges. I'm not an artist that does things for every single person. I believe in artistic freedom and expression, I believe in honoring the lyrics of a song, and those lyrics aren't really for everybody either."

Adam's performance was edited for the west coast feed and the budding pop star was none too pleased about it!

"There's a big double standard, female pop artists have been doing things provocative like that for years, and the fact that I'm a male, and I'll be edited and discriminated against could be a problem.

"People are scared and it's really sad, I just wish people could open their minds up and enjoy things, it's all for a laugh, it's really not that big of a deal."

Stick to your guns, Adam and never apologize for who you are!

While I think there's room for the cookie cutter performers, they're not for me. I really like Lambert, his edginess and his creativity. His voice, like all voices, has its good days and bad days. The album, however, is incredible. I'm quite sure he'll be around long past the 15 minutes you guys give him.
